This lovingly hand-built shepherd’s hut deep in the Monmouthshire countryside is the perfect place for a romantic getaway. Set amongst acres of stunning scenery, there are lovely walks to be had straight from the door, making this the ideal spot for a couple and their four-legged friend.

One of two properties in this location, the interior of the hut has been decorated to a very high standard and offers plenty of space for a couple and their precious pooch. The wooden floor and cream cabinetry exude a welcoming warmth. With a small, but well-equipped kitchen at one end and a full-size double bed at the other, there is everything here you and your furry friend could need. On chillier evenings, light the wood burner and snuggle up with your canine companion. Outside there is a lovely seating area, with space for you and your dog to stretch your legs first thing in the morning before enjoying a coffee in the sunshine and contemplating the day ahead.

With miles of countryside around, this is an idyllic spot for waggy-tailed walks. The town of Usk (4 miles) sits on the river of the same name. Enjoy a stroll along the river before exploring the local shops and cafes. Alternatively, jump in the car and head east to the glorious Wye Valley. The pretty town of Tintern (12 miles) is well worth a visit – pack a picnic and explore the beautiful ruins of Tintern Abbey. The historic town of Chepstow (14.5 miles) with its dramatic castle, set on the cliffs above the River Wye, is also a great destination for a day trip. Explore the castle ruins with your four-legged friend and then enjoy a stroll around the shops and eateries of this attractive town.
