Slip into a slower pace of life in this romantic, pet-friendly shepherd’s hut on Norfolk’s west coast, just 200 metres from Heacham Beach. It’s the perfect place for nature lovers, with endless scenic dog walks to explore nearby, including the long-distance Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path. There are some excellent woof-welcoming attractions within easy reach, too, including the Sandringham Estate (7 miles) and Norfolk Lavender (2 miles).
The handcrafted shepherd’s hut sits alongside a handful of similar retreats on a rural glamping site, enjoying views across open fields. Steps lead to the stable door and, once inside, the lodge has a rustic charm, with wood-panelled walls, floral fabrics, and quaint accessories. Along one wall is a sweet kitchenette area (there’s also a shared kitchen on site), and you’ll have a dining table for sharing romantic dinners for two. At the rear of the hut is a sumptuous double bed for a good night’s sleep. On a summer’s day, throw open the stable door to let the outside in and allow Rover to amble in and out to the garden. Adjacent to the property is your own, private shower and WC. Outside, unwind in the hanging chair and take in your stunning surroundings, or gather at the firepit for an al fresco supper or a sundowner. You and the pup are also welcome to explore the wider, shared grounds. Private parking is available for one car.
Heacham has a wide, sandy beach that welcomes four-pawed visitors all year. As one of Norfolk’s only west-facing beaches, it’s also a lovely spot for a sunset stroll with the woofer. Further afield, spend the afternoon wandering around the magnificent Holkham Hall Estate (17 miles) or enjoy a day of retail therapy in Burnham Market (12 miles), which boasts over 30 independent shops, boutiques, and galleries.
