Rising from giant gritstone outcrops, Flash is the highest village in Britain, and is blessed with sublime rural views. Set 6 miles south of Buxton and 17 miles west of Bakewell, it’s a perfect base for humans and hounds seeking Peak District bliss. Once a savage land of outlaws, it’s now treasured by seekers of tranquillity and freedom, adrenaline and adventure. Enjoy the independent establishments of Buxton, its opera house and views from Solomon’s Temple. Wander the wild from your doorstep to explore lofty Wolf Edge (0.5 miles), Three Shires Head (6 miles) and the exquisite 41-mile Dane Valley Way from Buxton to Middlewich.

The cottage’s interior is sleek, light, comfortable and modern, with astonishing views of the surrounding countryside. Relax in the spacious lounge/diner and reminisce around the glowing wood burner. There’s great use of wood throughout, from the slatted wall to the kitchen units, coffee tables, TV cupboard and beds. The bright and airy bedrooms have a lovely mid-century feel, and the bathroom is a soothing space for tired limbs and excited minds. Unwind outside with a sunrise croissant or sunset BBQ and bask in the enveloping green velvet of nature. There’s a wheelchair lift to the first-floor property, useful for heavy luggage.

Horticulturalists will delight in the grottos, scented terraces and lakes of Thornbridge Hall Gardens (17 miles). Climb wild Kinder Scout (19 miles), paraglide from Shining Tor (8 miles) and delve deep into the astonishing Blue John caverns of Castleton (16 miles). Explore the magnificent Manifold and Hamps Valleys by foot, hoof, paw or cycle from Hulme End (10 miles) to Waterhouses (15 miles), and the neolithic caves at Beeston Tor (13 miles). You and your faithful friends will adore the Goyt Valley (18 miles), with its moorland, river and reservoir. Great adventures await!

The cottage is in a beautiful setting. One downside is that if every cottage brings the allotted number of pets allowed 4 dogs. It would be too many.

A lovely setting, and a comfortable loft, we also noted that the loft has a lift access, and wet room. Dogs are very well accommodated, and super walks are on the doorstep.

Great location, comfortable living space, great views! We liked what the owners have done, a lovely little farm with comfy accomodation. No complaints. Very dog friendly but not 'doggy' come with or without your furry friends.

I loved everything about this place; the setting is stunning, and full of interest., What I really liked was that it felt like somewhere where the owners were saying this is what you can do as opposed to this is what you cant . A great property in a beautiful location. This was just what we were looking for, big enough for 2 plus dog but also super cosy and perfect for coming back to after long frosty walks in the Peak District.

Location outstanding, disappointed with several maintenance issues. lift door faulty unsafe, potential trapped fingers. Towels hard and musty smelling. Dog toileting grass area too small for number of dogs on comlex and insecure gate latch. "The Lookout" ,laundry room underneath property, very noisy and used late at night.
