This thoughtfully-designed property comprises two-holiday cottages and is perfect for a family gathering or friends’ reunion – with the furry friends, too, of course! Sleeping up to fourteen humans and welcoming two dogs with open paws, everyone is invited to enjoy this rural retreat. After a brisk walk in the nearby Cotswolds, enjoy a BBQ on the patio while Fido and the kids play nearby.

Dust off muddy boots and paws before returning home to the larger of the two properties, after a day of exploring. Relax and chat in the lounge, with a content pooch enjoying all of the fuss from so many special people. Head into the kitchen to check on the stew bubbling away in the oven – ample worktop space means that everyone will be able to help with the cooking. Enjoy an evening meal around the table in the large dining room and plan tomorrow’s adventures with Fido listening intently for the mention of ‘walkies’. After a long day, head off to rest weary legs in one of the five light and airy bedrooms that the two properties provide. Enjoy a morning pastry and coffee around the table in the beautifully-decorated lounge/diner after a good night’s sleep in the smaller of the two cottages.

Stretch your legs and sniff every sniff on the woodland trail through the large area of forest called Wychwood, near Charlbury (13 miles). Stroll around the stunning dog-friendly grounds of Blenheim Palace (15 miles), or venture into the historical, academic city of Oxford for the day (16 miles). After working up an appetite, enjoy a treat at one of the nearby pubs in the village of Bampton (2.5 miles) that welcome dogs and humans.

I booked the cottages for a family birthday celebration. They were ideal for us. The two younger families used the larger cottage which accommodated them admirably. We used this as our main base. It was so well equipped - from crockery to fridge space - that we had no problems with this. My husband and I took the smaller one bedroomed place which sRead moreuited us very well. We especially appreciated that there was no joining door so we were able to enjoy the peace when we needed a break. The cottage is well situated for a number of locations. We went to the Cotswold Wildlife Park, the Uffington horse and Bourton-on-the-Water. Pippa had provided a useful file of places to visit and there are still loads to explore. We had meals out locally too. I would recommend this property to any family looking for a base in the area. Hide

The two properties together were ideal for our family celebration - 8 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs. We had a great time, despite the weather being very wet. Would love to return in the sunshine!

As a group of seven more mature people we found the accommodation clean, comfortable and well equipped for our group size. The view over the fields was beautiful and the property was genuinely dog friendly- our two Labradors had a great time! The location gave us easy access to many places of interest, we especially enjoyed the Coswold Wildlife ParRead morek. Altogether a great stay . Hide

We enjoyed staying at Orchard Barn and Thames View. PiP was very helpful, sending all the details through in advance and answering questions. We were surprised to have to pay an additional amount to use the sofa bed though. Our only criticism is the cleanliness of the house. Hopefully this will be corrected for future guests.

We had a lovely Christmas stay at Orchard barn and Thames view. The barns were perfect for a large group and rooms very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and I was able to cook a Christmas meal for 9 on the Saturday. Some lovely country pubs nearby and we visited the garden centre at Burford. Plenty of countryside to walk the dog although SRead moretorm Darragh put paid to our plans for a long walk! Pippa decorated both cottages for Christmas which was a lovely touch . Hide
