  • Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with wonderful walks from the doorstep
  • Relax in the garden and appreciate the stunning sea views of the bay, south coast and Tennyson Down
Property code: OC-IC088

Set in an enviable position overlooking Freshwater Bay, this property is ideally located for a coastal escape. It’s the perfect secluded spot for a couples’ escape, although there’s plenty of space for your beloved hound to join in the adventure. The cliff-top location will certainly get tails wagging; from here, explore the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or venture down to the bay for a morning swim.

The airy single-storey property is modern and bright, with plenty of original features retained to give it a real cosy charm. Prepare a romantic meal in the contemporary kitchen, where through the open door you can watch as Fido enjoys the fresh coastal air in the large private gardens. Outside, you’ll find a wooden table and chairs that offers a delightful spot for an evening drink as you soak up the simply breathtaking view. On cool evenings, snuggle up in front of the wood burner, set into a charming brick fireplace. Retire to the homely and inviting bedroom, where in the morning you can throw open a door to the garden and let the outside in as you sip your morning coffee from the comfort of your bed.

Discover a new leash of life as you explore the walking and stick-chasing routes the Isle of Wight has to offer. Follow the coastal path towards The Needles at the western tip of the island (4 miles) or venture southeast towards St. Catherine’s Lighthouse (14 miles). Discover miles of unspoilt beaches and important wildlife habitats on the Tennyson Heritage Coast, including the well-known dinosaur footprints at Brook Bay (3.5 miles). To the north, visit the Hamstead Heritage Coast which runs from Thorness (12.5 miles) to Bouldnor (4 miles); a tranquil coastline with secret inlets and creeks, plus the National Nature Reserve at Newtown (7 miles).

Absolutely fantastic location, cottage has been restored to a good standard. However for the premium price charged, in our opinion. The standard of comfort and cleanliness let the cottage down .

Small but perfectly formed, and in the most beautiful location. We were lucky enough to have amazing weather and were able to sit outside for breakfast, lunch and our evening meal. The view from the garden is stunning, and we loved hearing the gulls and sounds of the sea. Tiny but lovely cottage with outstanding view of Freshwater bay from the corner of the clifftop garden. Tennyson Down with interesting plant and insect life (and Alderney cattle!) and beautiful walks almost outside the front gate.

A fabulous location for a get away from it all holiday. Peaceful except for the local resident seagulls starting the day around 5am! Great walking, I didnt really venture far from West Wight as the cliffs, beaches and paths were quiet, just how I like it.

Tucked away, we enjoyed beautiful views and privacy from the outside world. The cottage is basically one room with partitions which is not obvious from the photos, which caused noise issues at night and early mornings with creaky bathroom doors. Be prepared to walk 30 minutes to the nearest pub, but you can also enjoy a drink at the hotel at the enRead mored of the lane. Hide

A lovely little cottage in a unique location with a lot of history. It is amazing to think that a married Victorian soldier lived in this two-room cottage with a wife and four children! Simon was a marvellous host and nothing was too much trouble for him. Would certainly stay again.
