One of four properties on a small complex, vehicles are left in the shared courtyard area and there's plenty of outdoor space for up to two canine companions to stretch their legs before heading inside to snuggle down for the day. The warm, comfortable and spacious accommodation also welcomes six humans and is the perfect base for exploring the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and beyond.

As you kick off your shoes in the spacious entrance hallway, you might spot a homemade cake waiting for you in the well-equipped kitchen, also home to a large dining table which is perfect for leisurely meals. Next door is a more formal dining area that has been lavishly furnished with a large dark oak table. The open-plan lounge leads straight on from here and the soft leather sofas offer a cosy spot to curl up after your evening meal, with Fido stretched out in front of the wood burner. There are three comfy bedrooms to enjoy a peaceful night's sleep in while, outside, your tufty-pawed pals can explore the shared courtyard.

If you're looking for a good selection of shops, cafes and restaurants, head 6 miles to the nearby town of Consett. Whilst here, pay Derwent Waterside Park a visit and let Rover sniff his way around one of the pretty reservoir walks. Kids will love the range of organised events and activities that are available here throughout the year.

It was a really lovely place to stay and had everything we needed. We were impressed with the quality of the accommodation. The cottage is very spacious and facilities are of a very high spec. Location is off the beaten track and very peaceful. We had a lovely time there and would not hesitate to go back if we are travelling that way again.
