The only thing better than a romantic getaway for couples is a romantic getaway for couples and their pups, and this dog-friendly rural retreat is the perfect choice. Set on a working farm in Cornwalls Lizard Peninsula, it is ideally placed for exploring some of the county’s top sights and smells, from dog-friendly beaches to pretty fishing villages and the magnificent South West Coast Path. Back at base, warm chilly toes and paws beside the roaring wood burner or tuck into a tasty BBQ in the enclosed garden, being sure to save a sausage or two for your loyal friend.

Inside, this former bull house has been lovingly finished to offer stylish country-style accommodation with charming original features. Enjoy memorable mealtimes in the bespoke kitchen, which has been fitted with everything you could need for rustling up romantic meals for two. Afterwards, sink into the inviting sofa that sits in a cosy alcove in the lounge area, where you will also find a Smart TV and modern wood burner for those chillier evenings. Meanwhile, a stylish ground-floor bathroom is the perfect place to unwind after a long walk. Leaving your pup downstairs, climb up to the romantic bedroom in the eaves, complete with exposed beams, a super-king-size bed and a balcony overlooking rolling countryside. Outside, the enclosed garden is a wonderfully safe space for pooches to roam happily while owners fire up the BBQ.

Set out on foot to explore the nearby fishing village of Cadgwith (1 mile), with its thatched cottages, beach lined with boats, shops, restaurant and dog-friendly pub, renowned for its regular Cornish music acts. Follow the South West Coast Path towards Lizard Point to be rewarded with breathtaking ocean views while your canine companion takes in the fresh sea air. For beach-loving pups, head for Kennack Sands (2.5 miles), Porthleven (12.5 miles) or Mullion Cove (5 miles) or, to stock up on doggy treats, find a host of amenities in nearby Helston (10.5 miles).

  • 1 bedroom with super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made up as a twin on request)
  • 1 bathroom with shower over bath and WC
