A charming, dog-friendly home tucked away on one of Norfolk’s most picturesque estates, this cottage is a real treat for dog-loving families or groups of friends. It’s on the same grounds as Mannington Hall, a beautiful historic building dating back to around 1460, where well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome to accompany you throughout the gardens and woodland, which you’ll share with visiting members of the public. With space for six guests over three bedrooms, this holiday home works well for a family holiday or getaway among friends.
On arrival at this gorgeous stone cottage, leave muddy boots (and wipe off grubby paws) in the utility room off the entrance. Along the hallway is a lovely living area made for relaxing, with comfy sofas and a crackling wood burner for your tired dog to snooze next to. The bright kitchen-dining space has everything you need to enjoy hearty meals together, and there’s a convenient downstairs shower and WC. Upstairs is a family bathroom with a bath and overhead shower, plus three bedrooms: a cosy double, a flexible room with zip-and-link beds (super king or twin), and a bunk room that’s perfect for children. Outside, your pups can potter in the private courtyard-style garden while you sit back with a coffee. There’s private parking for two vehicles.
When it’s time to explore further afield, the bustling market town of Aylsham (5 miles) has a mix of shops, cosy cafés and places to eat. At Blickling Hall (4.5 miles), part of the National Trust, dogs can join you in the parkland, woodland, farmyard and bookshop. If it’s seaside fun you’re after, the sandy beaches and traditional amusements of Cromer and Sheringham (9 miles) are great for dogs in the chillier months when there are no dog restrictions. In summer, West Runton beach (also 9 miles) is a good option.
