Set tails wagging with a holiday in a delightful, dog-friendly lodge that’s perfect as a base for exploring the beautiful Northumberland countryside and coast, with wonderful walkies for both pets and people to enjoy. This spacious retreat, one of a complex of similar properties, is set on the peaceful grounds of Percy Woods Country Park and sleeps four guests, with a warm welcome for two canine companions. The park has a designated space for dogs to run free, as well as paths through the wooded grounds, and the lodge has an enclosed outside terrace where they can snooze in the sun. Enjoy free use of the park’s fine, 18-hole golf course, with an on-site bar/restaurant, and luxuriate in your own hot tub. Children have their own large play area, and golden, pet-friendly beaches are within easy reach.
The light and bright, open-plan living space of your welcoming retreat features large patio doors that frame lovely rural views. Furnished in a contemporary style with a subtle colour palette, the roomy interior has comfortable seating in the lounge area, with a flame-effect electric fire for chilly nights and ample floor space for dog beds or blankets. The sleek, all-white kitchen has a breakfast bar and all you need to rustle up meals using tasty local produce, while the wooden dining table adds a country touch. Leading off are a family bathroom and two charming bedrooms: a king-size with an en-suite shower room and a twin. Outside, the large, decked terrace has a glass balustrade and houses garden furniture, plus a hot tub, perfect for a relaxing soak. There is off-road, private parking for two cars.
Your pets can scamper across the sand and splash through the waves at dog-friendly Amble Links Beach (10 miles), a popular spot for surfing and kayaking. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome on boat trips from nearby Amble Harbour around Coquet Island, 1 mile offshore. Look out for puffins, kittiwakes and curious seals. Just 1.5 miles away are the dramatic ruins of medieval Warkworth Castle, with spectacular views above the River Coquet and the coast. Visiting canines on a lead are also welcome here, while energetic pets can join their owners in an exhilarating hike along the Northumberland Coast Path running alongside the golden sands of Druridge Bay from Amble to the small village of Cresswell.
