Tucked away in the Yorkshire countryside, this charming cottage is the perfect retreat for couples and small families looking to switch off and relax. The property welcomes one waggy-tailed pal and, being set on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, you’ll have a whole host of walking trails to sniff and explore from your front door. Alternatively, head to nearby Whitby (2 miles) for a day at the beach or a bracing coastal walk.

The quaint cottage is decorated in a homely style, with contemporary decor and creature comforts throughout. Leave walking boots and dog leads in the small vestibule, before heading through to the open-plan living space. This bright and airy room boasts far-reaching countryside views and is a lovely spot in which to unwind with a good book or a classic film on the Smart TV, whilst the pup dozes at your feet. Opposite the lounge is a compact kitchen area with everything needed for a self-catering break, along with a sweet dining table for enjoying mealtimes together. Completing the ground floor is a refreshing bathroom. Upstairs, two gorgeous double bedrooms with plush linens and statement wallpaper are nestled in the eaves. As these rooms have sloping ceilings, you may experience restricted head height in some areas. There is no outside space at the property. However, you and your four-pawed buddy will find plenty of countryside walks to explore directly from the cottage. There is private parking for one car.

Whitby is full of seaside charm and has a fabulous array of cosy pubs and cute cafes, as well as independent shops and boutiques to potter around. Let Rover lead the way to the top of the iconic 199 Steps which feature in Bram Stoker’s Dracula, or soak up the history with a wander around the atmospheric ruins of Whitby Abbey. Salty sea dogs will enjoy a sail on the replica of Captain Cook’s famous ship, or you can hop aboard one of the steam trains of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a relaxing journey through the picturesque countryside.

Had a lovely three night stay over Christmas. Perfect little cottage in a lovely location. We mostly went for walks locally with the dog and spent one day in Whitby. Had everything I needed to cook a Christmas dinner and the cosy warmth of the cottage was perfect for opening presents and relaxing in the evening. Would definitely come here again.

A beautiful country cottage (a converted barn I believe) that is in a very convenient location near to a great pub that sells food. We used the cottage as a base to visit many coastal towns nearby and had a wonderful time. The cottage is ideal for two people by might be a bit cramped for four adults - two young children would not be a problem. A grRead moreeat holiday! Hide

Well located accommodation, especially being so close to the cinder track. Good for walking the dog. Compact , comfortable cottage, ideal for the two of us and our pampered pooch with lovely views of the countryside. Would not hesitate to go back again.

Really lovely cottage in a great location just outside Whitby. We spent 4 days here and we would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay. Only slight negatives are there is no outside space to sit and the living area is on the small side for 4 adults to share. We feel this information was provided before booking and the cottage is pricedRead more to reflect this. A lovely little cottage and a great stay. Hide

Meadow cottage is nicely set in a small village and has everything you need and comfortable with a few treats from the owners. The bathroom is a bit small and tight but workable although might not suit with mobility issues.

The cottage is in a good location with easy acess to whitby and other areas . Theres a paddock behind with horses which we loved ..the only let down for me was no outside space to sit when weather is nice . However not everyone wants that , .The pots and pans etc were really nice and clean , not scratched and worn out like some . The bed was comfy Read moretoo the bathroom was down stairs and maybe would benefit from a grab handle to get in bath , my hubby had hip replaced a while ago and struggles a bit . The welcome pack was a nice touch and the note left with it . My only other gripe was no information on were the rubbish went or booklets on how to use equipment ..everywhere usually has all that stuff in a folder on coffee table luckily i have a cooker thats nearly the same .Overall it was a nice break for a few days . Beautiful cottage in beautiful surroundings. The field behind is full of wildlife, you can hear Tawny owls at night and watch bats fly around. This cottage is perfect for a hideaway or as a base for exploring the area. You feel in the middle of nowhere but there is a supermarket only 5 mins away, so you are never short of anything. The cottage iRead mores beautifully decorated, very clean and has everything (and more) than you would ever need. Two points to consider though - 1. the toilet is between a wall and the bath. I would guess it would be awkward if you are on the larger side or tall. 2. The parking is very tight for this cottage. If you have a big car it can be hard to get out or manoeuvre. Overall I would highly recommend this cottage and would return to the same one again if we returned to the area. Hide
