Tucked away in the Yorkshire countryside, this charming cottage is the perfect retreat for couples and small families looking to switch off and relax. The property welcomes one waggy-tailed pal and, being set on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, you’ll have a whole host of walking trails to sniff and explore from your front door. Alternatively, head to nearby Whitby (2 miles) for a day at the beach or a bracing coastal walk.
The quaint cottage is decorated in a homely style, with contemporary decor and creature comforts throughout. Leave walking boots and dog leads in the small vestibule, before heading through to the open-plan living space. This bright and airy room boasts far-reaching countryside views and is a lovely spot in which to unwind with a good book or a classic film on the Smart TV, whilst the pup dozes at your feet. Opposite the lounge is a compact kitchen area with everything needed for a self-catering break, along with a sweet dining table for enjoying mealtimes together. Completing the ground floor is a refreshing bathroom. Upstairs, two gorgeous double bedrooms with plush linens and statement wallpaper are nestled in the eaves. As these rooms have sloping ceilings, you may experience restricted head height in some areas. There is no outside space at the property. However, you and your four-pawed buddy will find plenty of countryside walks to explore directly from the cottage. There is private parking for one car.
Whitby is full of seaside charm and has a fabulous array of cosy pubs and cute cafes, as well as independent shops and boutiques to potter around. Let Rover lead the way to the top of the iconic 199 Steps which feature in Bram Stoker’s Dracula, or soak up the history with a wander around the atmospheric ruins of Whitby Abbey. Salty sea dogs will enjoy a sail on the replica of Captain Cook’s famous ship, or you can hop aboard one of the steam trains of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a relaxing journey through the picturesque countryside.
