Fill your days with dog walks and outdoor adventures in the exceptional Derbyshire countryside, by staying in this converted barn abode. The cottage is a tail-wagging delight for up to three guests, a great choice for small families or couples seeking that bit of extra space. Two dogs are welcome to come along too, ensuring you don’t have to enlist the help of the kennels throughout your time here. Just 4 miles from the base of the Peak District, you’re assured an array of incredible walking routes and landscapes to admire close to the property. Closer to home, there are forests, streams and grassland right on the private estate, ready for exploration with an energetic pup or two. Or perhaps take a trip to the award winning Denstone Hall Farm Shop (3 miles), set in the picturesque village of Denstone beside the River Churnet.

Move through the courtyard with its outdoor seating and step inside. The accommodation is split over two floors, with plenty of living spaces downstairs and two snug and cosy bedrooms up a single flight. Let Fido sniff around the open-plan living area downstairs, making themselves at home and finding the very best spot to position their bed. The Smart TV and cushy seating add to the appeal of this room, allowing you to put your feet (and paws) up after a long day. Elsewhere on site, a shared sauna and a gym add to the appealing features of this top dog estate.

Quiet villages, peaceful country lanes and the banks of the River Dove are all accessible within walking distance of home, allowing you to mosey out on a daily dog walk and get to know the surrounding countryside. A little further away, the handsome town of Ashbourne (5 miles) boasts cobbled streets, a regular market and a whole selection of pet-welcoming pubs to spend time in. From here, embark on the Tissington Trail, a 13-mile flat, traffic-free route that really shows off the Derbyshire Dales.

The cottage location is very good for walks. Some you need to drive to but none are far. The cottage itself is well equipped with everything you need. The water pressure is very good making the shower lovely. The cottage is very warm, which if its cold is wonderful but if its warm outside it is hot inside. There is an option to regulate this but I Read morethink it resets itself on the timer so never quite mastered it. I found the bedroom upstairs really hot in the night and this could be due to the towel rail staying on. However, Id rather be warm than cold. Phone signal is poor so bear this in mind, there is free WiFi so WhatsApp works ok. We stayed with 2 dogs, although the property is advertised as dog friendly, there isnt a garden to let them out and no way of keeping them on the small patio area as the steps are open. There is a lovely lawned area where they could have a run around but again if you have a dog that runs off you would have to be careful as this area is not fenced off either. There is a sauna and gym, both of which we never used so cannot comment on them. We had a couple of issues whilst here but they were dealt with almost straight away and the issues didnt distract from our holiday. We never met the owner either, although I did speak to him about the issues. All in all a great stay and would stay here again. Hide

Lovely cottage with homely features and well equipped. Owners were great, very knowledgeable and approachable. Close to Alton Towers, nice pub serving good food and lovely walks. Couldn't rate any higher and would gladly come back again.
