This rural lodge for two humans and two hounds sits within 130 acres of unspoilt countryside in the Blackdown Hills National Landscape. Enjoy long dog walks through the surrounding woodlands and pastures, before refuelling in one of the nearby village pubs (there are two within 3 miles of the property). Alternatively, dine out in one of the paw-friendly restaurants in the county town of Taunton, 8.5 miles away.
The Scandi-style, wood-clad lodge is bright and spacious, with a pitched roof and triple-aspect windows looking out across the rolling countryside. The main living space is an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with wooden floors and contemporary decor. Relax here, after a long walk with the woofers, trying out new recipes and sharing romantic dinners at the table by the window. In the evenings, sink into the comfortable sofa to read a book or watch the Smart TV. In summer months, open the sliding doors to the veranda to let the dogs potter in and out. Completing the accommodation is a relaxing king-size bedroom and a shower room with a rainfall shower. Outside, a glass-fronted, covered veranda provides a delightful spot for a sundowner. There is also an enclosed garden where the pups can stretch their legs and you can enjoy a BBQ supper. A handy outdoor dog shower is also provided for cleaning muddy paws. Guests are welcome to book a guided tour of the farm with the owner.
The Blackdown Hills are a haven for walkers and pooches. Take a stroll along the banks of the Culm River, stopping at the Culmstock River Beach (12 miles) to let your furry friends paddle in the water. There are some excellent, woof-welcoming National Trust properties in the area, including Barrington Court (14 miles) and Montecute House (20 miles), both of which welcome canine visitors in the grounds.
