Have a ghoulishly good time in Whitby. Famous for being the place where Dracula landed in England (in the form of a dog), the town is full of Gothic history and matching architecture. All in all, the perfect spot for a romantic getaway with your partner and your canine companion! Just make sure you don’t bring a big black dog back from the beach…
This refurbished, terraced property still has a lot of character. Enter the hallway and take your boots off. On the left, you’ll see a kitchen, where you can cook up romantic meals and store any spare garlic. Return to the hallway and head up a few steps to a cosy lounge/diner with an ornamental fireplace, exposed brick and wooden beams. Continue up more stairs to the shower room and finally, at the top of the house, there’s the bedroom. This can either be arranged with twin beds or one super-king-size. It has a vaulted ceiling, evoking a church, and there are more exposed beams. The cottage is completed by a shared courtyard with a dining area. One dog is welcome, but no hellhounds, please.
Whitby is a place full of history and stories. You’ll be just under 0.5 miles from Whitby Abbey, which was first built in the 7th century. Now there are tours, tearooms and sometimes you can catch plays depicting Dracula. If you think salt will keep you safe, why not visit Whitby Beach (0.5 miles), which is partially dog friendly?
