This large Victorian house has four en-suite bedrooms and two sitting rooms – ideal for both chilled-out down-time and companionable catch-ups. Located in the centre of beautiful Bamburgh, it can be booked alongside the neighbouring property for a bigger group gathering and welcomes two four-pawed friends.
Built in 1893 as a grocery store, this mid-terrace house faces Bamburgh’s tree-lined village grove and features a fetching contrast of modern and traditional furnishings. A bay window in the lounge – the first of two welcoming spaces where everyone can gather – offers lovely views to the front of the property, while a second, smaller room off the kitchen/diner is ideal for dogs to nap: this whole area, which has solid oak flooring, is sure to be the social hub for your stay. There’s a handy laundry room just off to the side. On the first floor four en-suite bedrooms offer privacy and convenience. Choose from three king-size rooms – two with TVs – and a double room. For ultimate flexibility, one of the king-size beds can be made up as twins on request. There’s no garden here, but the beach is within half a mile for endless fresh air, walks and games of fetch.
Historic Bamburgh, famous for its stunning sands and imposing castle, is home to numerous shops and a fine selection of restaurants. A scenic 3-mile walk along the beach will take you to Seahouses – the embarkation point for boat trips to the wildlife-rich Farne Islands – while for a change of terrain, the market town of Alnwick is 17.5 miles inland. Known the world over for its medieval religious heritage and 16th-century castle, Lindisfarne – also known as Holy Island – is a 15-mile drive from Bamburgh and can be reached, when the tides permit, via a paved causeway.
