This one-bedroom couple’s retreat (plus four-legged friend, of course!) is at one end of a converted barn containing two other holiday properties in the peaceful hamlet of Trentishoe within Exmoor National Park. It makes the ideal base for exploring this rugged landscape or indeed for joining the popular South West Coast Path to see things from a different perspective. The open-plan living accommodation and private garden area mean you can be together or do your own thing in comfort and style. You’re bound to have a ball here!
The front entrance of this rustic, stone cottage leads directly into a spacious lounge/kitchen/diner with the original low ceilings (6’6”). The small but perfectly formed kitchen area is well-equipped for concocting self-catered fare to eat at your very own table for two, before sinking into the lounge area’s comfortable sofa watching the Smart TV. Cottage-style, open-tread stairs lead up to the stylish double bedroom with lovely country views and an adjacent modern bathroom complete with a bath for holiday soaks. Outside, a shared utility room has a washer/dryer and ironing board. The sheltered private garden area is a lovely spot to spend quality time with your faithful furry friend by your side, but you also have the use of a large shared garden, which has picnic tables in various scenic spots.
Put your boots on and lead the way to adventure on countless country and coastal walks practically from the door. Head 2 miles to the National Trust smugglers’ cove at Heddon’s Mouth or just join the coastal path and potter in either direction. Exmoor awaits too with its hilly expanses of open moorland and free-roaming ponies. Or take a different view of things from a steam train on the short Lynton & Barnstaple Railway (3.5 miles) which welcomes dogs, too!
