One of three converted barns set amid extensive grounds, this detached holiday home is just a mile from Bodmin and has the traffic-free Camel Trail on its doorstep.
Feature stone walls, tiled floors and exposed structural beams hint at the heritage of this stylish former barn, while underfloor heating and a wood burner guarantee an always-warm welcome. The ground floor has a generously proportioned open-plan living room with a high-end kitchen, comfortable lounge and dining suite – there’s space for Fido to follow his humans from one area to another, and for everyone to stretch out in front of the TV when down-time is needed. A handy WC completes the layout at this level, its styling similar to that of the family bathroom on the first floor, where there’s both a bath and separate shower cubicle. Also on this floor is a king-size bedroom with its own en-suite shower room, and two twin-bedded rooms. The first of these has full-size single beds which can be linked to form a super-king-size bed, while the other has small twins suitable for children which could, instead, link to form a king-size bed. Outside, there’s an enclosed garden with patio, outdoor furniture and BBQ, plus shared use of a shed where bikes and beach gear can be stored. Guests also have shared use of the grounds that lead towards the River Camel.
Fido will love walkies on the Camel Trail, which follows the path of a disused railway line to Wadebridge, 5.5 miles away. At its other end, Padstow (14 miles) has cobbled streets and a beautiful harbour to explore; a short wander along the coast path leads to coves where at low tide you can stroll on light golden sands. Dogs on leads are also welcome at The Lost Gardens of Heligan, 18 miles away.
