Enjoy off-the-beaten-track together-time with family and your favourite four-legged friend – this converted barn features a fabulous open-plan living space plus a large lawned garden surrounded by beautiful countryside. Children can meet the resident farm animals while the dog dashes around in a dedicated exercise field, and for sandy-pawed strolls the beach at Instow is only 3 miles away.
One of a small group of holiday cottages located on the owners’ farm, this detached property offers countryside views in all directions. Inside, exposed beams, stone flooring and original leaded-light windows set the scene for a comfortable stay, the warm welcome evident as soon as you step into the bright and airy open-plan living space. Here you’ll find a contemporary kitchen area and lounge – with a wood burner-effect electric heater in the fireplace at one end sure to be the hub of your holiday. Stretch out on the sofa to watch TV, or magic up a culinary masterpiece as Fido keeps an eye on everyone from his spot by the hearth. When it’s time to eat, the dining suite sits before a window close by. The first of two bedrooms is on the ground floor: a king-size with an additional Z-bed for flexibility. On the first floor, there’s a shower room and a twin-bedded room with an exposed stone wall. Lap up the country sights, sounds and sunshine from your large lawned garden, where there’s garden furniture and a BBQ so you can cook up an al fresco feast – don’t forget an extra sausage for Fido! Younger guests are welcome to help feed the farm’s resident chickens and, in springtime, meet the lambs and Fido can let off steam in a dedicated doggie exercise field. A shared laundry room completes the home-from-home convenience.
Sniff out the wealth of countryside walks from your doorstep, or drive 3 miles to Instow, a former fishing village with a waterfront lined with cafes and pubs for a friendly, cosmopolitan vibe. Enjoy an amble along the promenade, jump on a ferry for the 5-minute crossing to Appledore, or let Fido dash around on the sand dunes at Instow Beach. Less than 7 miles away, dogs are allowed year-round on the northern end of the long, sandy beach at Westward Ho! which is backed by the grassland of Northam Burrows Country Park. The South West Coast Path offers longer walks around the Taw-Torridge estuary, or for a change of terrain the steep cobbled streets of Clovelly are 16.5 miles away.
