This rural Lakeland getaway is just 0.5 miles from the charming village of Ennerdale Bridge. The property sleeps two guests and one canine chum, with an additional sofa bed suitable for two children. As expected, you’ll have limitless dog walks in the surrounding area, from exhilarating fell climbs to relaxing strolls along the banks of the lake. The sandy beaches of the Cumbrian coast are within 7 miles.
The stylish lodge sits in the grounds of the owner’s farmhouse. A glass-fronted entrance – making the most of the breathtaking views – welcomes you inside, where you’ll find a bright and airy lounge/kitchen. Relax here after a walk, with the hound stretched out in front of the wood burner-effect electric fire. There is a dining area to the rear of the lodge which converts into a double sofa bed, suitable for two children under the age of 16. A shower room completes the ground floor. A fixed ladder leads to the cosy, mezzanine double bedroom (please note this room has limited headroom). Outside, there is a private patio for sipping a sundowner and you are welcome to explore the owner’s immaculate garden and 16 acres of farmland.
Ennerdale Valley is a haven for walkers and four-pawed explorers, with endless woodland trails, fell walks, and waterside strolls. The remote Ennerdale Water is 2 miles away and is one of the most unspoilt of all the lakes, with picnic areas and scenic spots for wild swimming. To get the heart pumping and tail wagging, set off to the summit of one of the nearby fells including Green Gable and High Crag, which form part of the Ennerdale Horseshoe walking route. Alternatively, hop in the car for a day on the sandy shores of the woof-friendly beach at St Bees (7 miles).
