Relax in a private hot tub on the patio of a luxurious lodge as you gaze across the waters of beautiful Bengairn Loch to the surrounding countryside. This delightful property, in an idyllic setting on the banks of the loch, is perfect for a family holiday or a couple seeking a romantic retreat with glorious views throughout. Sleeping four guests, and welcoming one four-legged friend, it is located on a working farm, where you can help feed springtime lambs and watch sheepdogs hard at work. The pretty seaside village of Auchencairn is under a mile away.
The spacious single-storey lodge is tastefully furnished in calm, neutral tones with splashes of colour, while sloping ceilings create a lovely cottage feel. There are wonderful views of the loch from floor-to-ceiling windows and French doors in the airy open-plan lounge/kitchen diner. Relax on comfortable sofas in front of the wood burner-effect electric fire and in the pretty dining area. There are two inviting bedrooms: a super-king-size, which can be made into a twin, and a king-size. Both have en-suites and French doors. Outside, the enclosed garden houses a large patio with a hot tub, table and chairs, a BBQ and a chimenea.
Auchencairn (under 1 mile) has whitewashed cottages and a splendid general store which also comprises a post office, a cafe, a beer garden and an evening takeaway service. Your pet will revel in the sandy beach and lovely doggy walks along the rugged coastline of Auchencairn and Balcary Bay. Work up an appetite before visiting Castle Douglas (7.5 miles), Scotland’s only designated Food Town. Carlingwark Loch (8.5 miles) is a great spot for water sports and on a clear night, you can marvel at a bright canopy of stars in the Galloway Forest and Dark Skies Park (23 miles).
