Set in a beautiful spot along the edge of the North Pennines, this inviting single-storey barn conversion makes a fantastic retreat for couples seeking a cosy rural getaway. Offering welcoming accommodation for two human and two canine guests, the property is part of a small complex of cheerful holiday homes on the fringes of Cumbria’s beautiful Eden Valley. Featuring exposed beams and a charming wood burner, this delightfully updated outbuilding makes a great base for dogs and their owners, with the stunning Lake District just a short drive away.

A couple of steps lead from the courtyard up into this light and airy property. The welcoming lounge has a beamed ceiling, a lovely wood burner, comfortable seating and a TV, making an ideal space to snuggle up in the evening to watch a favourite movie or chat about the day. Exploring further, there’s a country-style kitchen/diner with everything you might need during your stay. The cottage also features a charmingly furnished king-size bedroom along with a bathroom. A stable door leads outside onto the enclosed courtyard shared with the neighbouring properties, providing a relaxing spot for you and your four-legged friends to unwind in the sun.

The Eden Valley offers miles of wonderful walks for your four-legged friends to enjoy, with local landmarks including Little Meg and Her Daughters (3.5 miles) and Lacy’s Caves (8 miles). Situated in the little village of Gamblesby, the cottage is ideally located for exploring the north-western corner of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with its rugged moorlands and stunning views. The edge of the Lake District is just 15 miles to the west, with dog-friendly attractions including Lowther Castle and Gardens, Aira Force Waterfall, Lake Ullswater and the ruins of Shap Abbey all within 22 miles.

A comfy, spacious and well appointed cottage for two (and a dog) with easy access to the North Lakes. The owners Paul & Karen were very welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts. We'll be back!

John & Karen Logan were cordial hosts and it was very reassuring that they are resident on site. The Welcome Basket was the most extensive we have encountered in 30 years of self-catering breaks. Church Court Cottages were perfect for us. when we first opened the door, we were greeted by a gift of bread, milk and essentials for your first cuppa which was a lovely touch.
