This picture-postcard cottage is great for couples, small families and friends wanting a break away in the Peak District. Set on a small complex in pretty Hartington, you’ll have a wealth of amenities within 250 metres, including eateries, pubs and a plethora of shops so you can stock up on foot for holiday treats! In the heart of the national park, blow the cobwebs away hiking happily with your hounds – up to three can come with up to six humans to this characterful property. Finished to a high spec and styled to suit a modern aesthetic, there’s plenty still to show of this cottage’s 500-year history, including a glorious inglenook, exposed stonework and wooden beams.
The cosy lounge has a beamed ceiling, stone mullion windows and, of course, the imposing stone fireplace, still housing an open fire for that authentic feel. The light and airy kitchen/diner has a more modern feel (albeit still with beams!) with a fitted galley kitchen that’s perfectly equipped for your self-catering endeavours, and a light wood dining set for six. Sleeping quarters are all upstairs, comprising three en-suite bedrooms – two twins and one double. One twin has a zip-and-link bed that can be a super-king-size bed upon request. Each with slightly different styling, they are all bright spaces with charming sloping ceilings. To the front is a small but pleasant traditional cottage garden with outside seating. In the shared courtyard behind, there is a patio area seating up to six.
Get competitive in the shared games room on site, offering such goodies as pool, air hockey, table tennis and football. Some of the best walks in Derbyshire pass through the village so don’t forget your walking boots – or the dogs’ leads! The High Peak and Tissington Trail are both within 3 miles and offer cycle hire.
