Furry friends are also welcome at Drumlanrig Castle & Gardens (10.5 miles), which offers acres of stunning Victorian gardens packed full of interesting sights, sounds and smells that are sure to get tails wagging. Alternatively, take a ride back in time onboard a restored diesel locomotive at The Leadhills and Wanlockhead Railway, where pawed pals can join you along a 3/4 mile journey through the Lowther Hills, taking in the historic mining landscape along the way.
