This beautiful stone barn conversion is located in the grounds of a traditional Scottish country house on the banks of the River Nith, which flows past the garden. Nestled amongst breathtaking scenery and rolling hills, this is the ideal rural retreat for a couple and their four-legged friends to explore the delights of Sanquhar and the surrounding countryside.

This charming barn conversion is sure to win your heart with its homely interiors and thick stone walls creating a cosy atmosphere even on the coldest Scottish day. Step into the light and airy living/dining area with French doors leading to the garden and a large skylight overhead. Warm your toes or paws on the electric coal-effect fireplace and enjoy the sounds of the babbling river rushing past. Outside, the enclosed gravelled garden is a great place to sit back and take in the lovely scenery whilst Fido keeps an eye out for wild salmon leaping out the river. When it’s time for bed or basket, an inviting bedroom awaits with a sumptuous super-king-sized bed.

When it comes to eating out, you don’t have to travel far with an on-site bar and restaurant located in the estate’s country house. Sanquhar has a great range of amenities, including a café, pub, bakery, golf club, park and picnic area. Crawick Multiverse (1.5 miles) is an amazing land art installation designed by Charles Jencks, where dogs on leads are welcome to join you roaming the sculpted hills and pathways that make up this epic project. Visit Drumlanrig Castle & Gardens (10.5 miles) and marvel at the sights and smells in the acres of stunning Victorian gardens that are sure to get tails wagging. Take a journey back in time at The Leadhills and Wanlockhead Railway, where canine companions can join you traversing a 3/4 mile of track through the Lowther Hills, passing the historical lead mining scenery that gave the village of Leadhills its name.

Cottage is more than adequate and comfortable with access to the main hotel quick and easy. The owners are a delight with fabulous skills in the Kitchen producing superb food which alone is worth the visit. The Attention and facilities could not be better and offer a super level of comfort and relaxation

Wife and I had a great time. Lovely river walks in the morning and evening. Lambs and sheep across the river which was nice to sit and watch while relaxing on the decking. Would definitely revisit the area. As a dog owner there's plenty to go and see without walking on main roads.

The Riverside Cottage was lovely and warm on arrival with the lovely extra addition of a vase of fresh flowers. The phone call from the host 10 minutes after arrival asking if there was anything we needed was another lovely touch which we have not received at any other self catering property. Everything was spotlessly clean. The view over the RiverRead more Nith was stunning. We even sat out one morning having our coffee to appreciate the view (even though it was March!). A tranquil gem! Disappointing in need of some refurbishment. Kitchen basically kitted out no wall cabinets so glasses loose in a drawer. Dishwasher tablet holder did not close no instructions for this or washing machine. Leaky toilet pipe with cut off plastic box catching drips no toilet brush. Bin at door not emptied from previous guests. Leaking gutter at front Read moredoor meant go soaked going in and out of property in rain. Tired and not great so left early. Stayed in lots of properties which are much better. Hide

Lovely little cottage next to the river-beautiful view and the sound of the river so relaxing. It was warm & reasonably well equipped but generally seemed a little tired so is probably ready for a make over. Ate at hotel several evenings-the food is gorgeous and well worth a visit.

Great place. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend for dog owners & nature lovers in general. Many walks straight from the front door. Hotel food was delicious & owners were warm & friendly. We tried the bar and a la carte menus.....both great. Bar was being refurbed while we were there. Once it is completed, it will be another great option of an evening.

The cottage was lovely and cosy, especially as the weather was not good. However on the one sunny day we had it was lovely to sit outside beside the river. Being able to use the Hotel bar and restaurant was great, exceptional food and very friendly staff. Would highly recommend this cottage.
