Surrounded by exquisite countryside and with walks from your doorstep, this cosy cottage on Yorkshire’s Nidderdale Way is the perfect choice for a couple’s retreat or family getaway. Charming furnishings sit alongside elegant, original features creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for a relaxing holiday.
You’ll be delighted by the farmhouse charm of this traditional cottage, which has beautiful views over Gouthwaite Reservoir and the unspoilt scenery of the Dales. In the welcoming lounge, a stone floor and exposed beams set the ambience, and while you relax on the comfortable seating you can enjoy the flickering flames of the wood burner and catch up on your favourite shows on the Smart TV. Pop dog food bowls down in the kitchen/diner, also the spot for hanging coats and kicking off muddy boots after a long walk in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Tucked under the sloping eaves of the first floor, you will find two pretty bedrooms – a king-size and a twin, both with beautiful floorboards and handsome metal beds, and sharing the family bathroom. At the front of the cottage, there’s space to read, sip a coffee or dine alfresco on the small patio, and there is also a shared lawned area with picnic tables where you can unwind while listening to the babbling stream and appreciating the superb views.
Explore the walks and trails which start right outside the cottage – your canine companions will never tire of the variety. Head into picturesque Pateley Bridge, 6 miles, for its cafes, tea rooms and shops, including the world’s oldest sweet shop, and visit the extraordinary formations of Brimham Rocks (10 miles) created 100 million years before the first dinosaurs walked the Earth. Four-pawed pals on leads are also welcome in the atmospheric ruins, water garden and deer park of Fountain’s Abbey, 15 miles away, an outstanding World Heritage Site.
