A romantic retreat for two or a cosy getaway for a small family, this characterful cottage in the Yorkshire Dales boasts spectacular views and fabulous walks from the doorstep. Enchanting original features such as beams and a bread oven provide plenty of character all enhanced by the thoughtful design.
A year-round escape for everyone, including four-pawed pals, this pretty cottage is truly welcoming and inviting. Gather around the open fire and Smart TV (pups snoozing by your feet) in the lounge, where a stone floor and exposed timbers show off the cottage’s traditional style, and enjoy tasty meals in the spacious kitchen/diner. On the first floor, there are two delightful bedrooms – a king-size and a twin – both with sloping ceilings, open beams and stripped-wood floors, sharing a charming family bathroom. A pretty patio area at the front of the property with a dining table and chairs is yours to enjoy for al fresco dining and relaxing, and you also have shared use of a lawned area with picnic tables, where you can exercise your hounds, listen to the babbling of the stream and recharge amidst the panorama of rural scenery.
The cottage is located on the edge of Gouthwaite Reservoir, and the popular Nidderdale Way runs directly in front, providing a host of walks and cycle trails within this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Picturesque Pateley Bridge is 6 miles away, where you’ll find cafes, tea rooms and quaint shops, including the world’s oldest sweet shop. Dogs are very welcome for walkies on leads around the weird and wonderful formations at Brimham Rocks (10 miles), while four-pawed friends on leads are also welcome in the ancient ruins, water garden and deer park of Fountain’s Abbey, an awe-inspiring World Heritage Site, 15 miles away.
