Nestled amongst the Cowdry Country Estate in the South Downs National Park, this beautifully presented cottage is the perfect romantic retreat for couples and their four-legged friends. Surrounded by unbridled countryside with a wealth of walks from your doorstep, you and your dogs will be spoilt for choice. The estate also offers a range of alternative country pursuits, including clay pigeon shooting, horse riding, golf and fly fishing, which can all be followed by the finest afternoon tea. Despite the rural location, there’s a pub, farm shop and café within 1.5 miles.
Sympathetically renovated, this idyllic country residence (one of four at this location) is light and airy throughout with contemporary cottage décor to suit the surroundings. After discarding your muddy shoes in the hallway, head into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner where you can cook, eat and recline in comfort and style. You can even tuck into the welcome pack from the local award-winning farm shop and café. When it’s time for bed, head into the super-king-size bedroom for a restful night’s sleep. Completing the accommodation is an en-suite bathroom. Outside, there’s a private patio for al fresco dining.
With so many activities on the estate itself, you may not want to leave, but should you venture further afield, you’ll be greeted by historic towns and villages with an array of independent shops and eateries. In the heart of the South Downs is the market town of Midhurst (2 miles) with its charming historical buildings and literary connections. Petworth (5.5 miles) is another town steeped in history, which is also home to the National Trust’s Petworth House and its art collection. Heading south, you could even explore the West Sussex coastline with Bognor Regis (18.5 miles) offering a traditional seaside day out and a long pebble beach.
