Relax in this woodland lodge near Sherwood Forest.
Sitting among ancient oaks, the lodge is in a quiet location close to acres of forest waiting to be explored on foot with your canine companion by your side or by bike, with your canine companion trying to keep up! After a day of adventures, there’s a hot tub to soak in and a cosy wood burner-effect electric fire to gather around playing board games or watching TV together as a family.
There’s a big open-plan living area with a lounge, kitchen, and dining area. It’s all rustic and feels connected to the outdoors thanks to all the wood, windows, and patio doors. There are two bedrooms, a king-size room with a four-poster bed and a twin room, and two bathrooms: an en-suite shower room, and a family bathroom. The decking has plenty of space to sit with a coffee or dinner and enjoy the sunshine, and you can relax in the hot tub, day or night.
Take the dog and head to Sherwood Pines, 6 miles away, where there are miles of trails of differing levels so the whole family can enjoy walking or cycling in Robin Hood’s old stomping ground. Head to the iconic Major Oak (9.5 miles away and just 1.5 miles from Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre) – the biggest oak tree in Britain – on the Major Oak Trails, where Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men are reputed to have slept. You can let your furry friend get some exercise too as dogs are allowed off the lead in the forest. Adventure seekers will want to visit the activity centre at Walesby Forest (1 mile) where there are all sorts of activities for kids, including abseiling, bodyboarding, circus skills, frisbee golf, kayaking and swimming.
