This spacious property is located in the heart of the market town of Keswick and boasts glorious views over rooftops to the fells beyond. Sleeping up to 12 guests and two hairy hounds, it’s the perfect Lakeland retreat for large get-togethers. The town is bursting with independent eateries and cute shops, many of which happily welcome four-legged visitors. You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to walks, with Derwentwater, Whinlatter Forest Park, and Skiddaw all within 5 miles. The townhouse has large, open spaces for socialising and a beautiful, enclosed garden where the woofers can play.

The townhouse is set over four floors. A step leads to the exquisite entrance hall, which houses a piano and has plenty of room for all your dog-walking gear. From here, head into the impressive lounge. The room is decorated in rich colours and fabrics, in keeping with the property, and has seating for everyone, including a quiet area where you can unwind with a book. There are two gas fires heating the room, creating the perfect snoozing spots for your four-pawed pals. The vast first-floor dining room is ideal for hosting dinner parties and has a pool table for post-dinner entertainment. Outside, fire up the BBQ for an al fresco meal in the sunshine, whilst the children and pups burn off steam on the lawn.

The 10-mile circular walk around Derwentwater provides the most mesmerising views of Catbells and Skiddaw. Follow the shoreline to the viewing point at Friar’s Crag or round up the troops (including the hounds) for a jaunt on the Keswick Launch. Alternatively, pull on your hiking boots and stride out to the summit of Catbells (5.5 miles). It’s one of the smallest Wainwrights, so it’s great for young explorers and woofers who aren’t used to fell walking.

  • 3 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week

The cottage was perfectly located for us, a short walk to the Park, Keswick centre, activities and trails. It has plenty of room, we were 3 families and never felt like we were in each other's way. The kids enjoyed playing board games in the front room, while the adults enjoyed a game of pool and relaxing on the window seat in the dining area. The Read morekitchen was well equipped, we were able to cook a Sunday Roast for 10 and had plenty of room around the table. We would definitely stay again! Hide

The Gables is a beautiful, substantial house which feels very much like a home as soon as you walk in the door. The bedrooms are well decorated and look lovely as you walk in, the bathrooms were wonderful for the size of our party and all exceedingly well maintained. The whole house has a cosy feel, even though it is large and has several floors. TRead morehe lounge, kitchen and dining room are fabulous for a large party with plenty of space of everyone to find their own little nook. We all loved it. Hide

Fantastic house in the perfect location for fell walking, lake swimming, cycling, etc. Great places to eat and drink, especially the Dog & Gun and The Bank Tavern. The Gables is very well equipped and comfortable - the owners have thought of everything.

The property is in a lovely place but the parking for car behind property is very small and tight and not where you might think it would be unfortunately our holiday did not get off to the best start and it didnt get any better not the relaxing holiday we all needed our party with children would not stay again due to the issues that we where confroRead morented with on our un relaxing holiday Hide

Great location. Very sociable house. Very spacious. It's a shame towels are not provided, whilst you were informed about this before arriving this also included hand towels. Would stay here again.

This house is in the best location for Keswick town. It is warm and welcoming and very comfortable for larger groups with plenty of room and alternatives to the TV to keep you occupied whilst indoors. The bedroom on the ground floor was helpful for people with mobility issues.

An excellent stay at the Gables. The property has 1 car parking space, disk parking at the front and a free street a 2 minute walk away. The location is brilliant, just around the corner from the town centre. Great dog friendly place with a good, enclosed rear garden. Chris the host was great, we were able to pay for an extra dog and check in earlyRead more. The place is clean and very warm with a thermostat on each floor.
