Alternatively, get the heart pumping and the tail wagging with a fun day out at the races. Hexham Racecourse has a busy diary of events and races throughout the year and woofers on leads are welcome along the course and in all outdoor areas. Step back in time with a dog walk along the Hadrian’s Wall Path. The 73-mile route passes fascinating temples, Roman bath houses and numerous excavation sites and the rugged scenery is breathtaking. You can join it at Walltown Crags, an English Heritage site just 22 miles away.
