This period property in the picture-postcard town of Rothbury effortlessly blends its charming original features with its bright and fresh decor. Sleeping four people over two bedrooms and welcoming one canine companion, this apartment works equally well as a romantic bolthole for two or a cosy home-from-home for a small family getaway. You are sure to adore the location in the heart of the historic town and your pup is certain to enjoy long walks in the spectacular Coquetdale Valley.

Set in a pretty complex of properties, this quirky cottage is a pleasure to call home. Step inside and you’ll find yourself in a spacious hallway – the perfect place to towel down any muddy paws. Head to the open-plan living/kitchen/diner and cook up a storm for your loved ones in the well-equipped kitchen area. Enjoy a meal to remember in the lovely dining area, or head out to the shared front garden and dine alfresco. After dinner, sink into the sofa in the living area in front of your favourite film as your pup snoozes contentedly at your feet. At the end of the perfect day, there are two charming bedrooms to choose from.

Take your pup for a walk in the grounds at Cragside (2.5 miles), the home of the Victorian inventor, innovator and landscape genius, Lord Armstrong. With more than 40 miles of footpaths to explore, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Alternatively, head to the gorgeous stretch of dog-friendly beach at Amble Links (20 miles). This lovely beach looks out at Coquet Island, which is home to a large colony of puffins. At the end of a day full of outdoor adventure, there’s a good selection of dog-friendly pubs to choose from right on your doorstep in Rothbury.

Perfect location to explore Northumbria and the south of Scotland, even in winter! Very comfy cottage.

This fabulous cottage in a great location was just perfect for us. It was spacious and bright, with a huge bathroom and would comfortably sleep 5 with a dog. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds very comfortable indeed. Right in the centre of the village, an easy walk to all the shops and pubs and the fantastic Italian restaurant just around Read morethe corner. We would highly recommend this cottage and will definitely stay here again. Hide

Good location but be aware that it is on a busy road and often noisy with traffic . The cottage is basic but has everything needed . Would benefit greatly from a revamped seating area outside .

Lovely cottage with brilliant location, and as stated lots of on road parking. Internet was not accessible. I thought it was originally WiFi and the owner did offer suggestion but I could not get internet which I assume to be more a problem of no signal so we had to go out of the cottage in order to get connected! Travelling around the internet conRead morenection was sporadic so I think it must be generally a poor area for signals. Hide

This cottage was way more spacious than expected from the description. Everything we needed was provided for and we loved being in the centre of Rothbury, where we could walk to the COOP and bakers etc. Recommend La Mensa restaurant, around the corner

Lovely cottage, central location to Rothbury and all amenities and only a 2 minute walk to the Riverside walk. Cottage is comfortable and well equipped.

Although it is very central for shops and pubs it is on a busy road, would not recommend for dogs as no enclosed garden.

This cottage is really well placed at the heart of Rothbury itself. We found the accommodation to be comfortable and the owners have done a good job of turning an old quirky layout into one that works. There were 4 of us and a dog and we all had ample space. Thank you for the welcome pack, the shortbread biscuits were a lovely treat and we got to tRead morery the local tea and coffee! A lovely touch which was appreciated. Hide
