With magnificent views, this country-style barn boasts original features and sleeps four guests plus one faithful hound over two bedrooms. It’s one of two properties set in spacious farmland to explore and enjoy. Children will love meeting the farm animals, while grown-ups and curious pups will appreciate the far-reaching countryside vistas. It’s a short drive to the pub (2 miles), and local shops for those essentials (3.5 miles).
On arrival, take a few steps to the property entrance which leads to a cosy lounge with handsome slate flooring, exposed timber beams and a cosy rug for four-legged curl-ups. The kitchen and dining area are well-equipped for family meals and canine treat-pleading. Amble along to the bathroom and bedrooms on the same floor for the most restful of slumbers. Step outside to the BBQ patio for breakfast, or to the lawn play area where parents can supervise high flier hounds and children on the slide.
Head to Hartland (3.5 miles) for eateries and independent shops with artisan crafts and pottery. Visit the aptly placed shipwreck museum at Hartland Quay (4.5 miles) which shares tales of smugglers past. You may recognise 12th century Hartland Abbey (4 miles) as a film location; its gardens are child and pup-friendly with lots of winding trails and woodland to explore, plus mammals and birds to spot. Don’t miss the fishing village of Clovelly (8 miles), the only transport on its cobbled main street is by foot, paw, hoof or sledge. And Welcombe Mouth (5 miles), has a dog-friendly sandy beach with rock pools, waterfalls and a stream - you’ll never get Fido to return to the car!
