Stroll, hike, ramble or run – there are so many fabulous walks and trails for you and your furry friend to explore close to this traditional cottage. An ideal destination for families or friends, it’s set within a private estate on the edge of the Peak District National Park, close to a dog-friendly pub serving excellent food and with an enclosed garden where you can dine alfresco while your pup plays and sniffs.
This lovely cottage has some internal steps on the ground floor, as befits its traditional design. Step into the light and airy lounge, where comfortable seating surrounds an ornamental fireplace. This is a lovely space for a relaxing evening spent with your furry friend lying on the wooden floor by your feet. Pop his bowls down in the utility room, and head into the kitchen where everything is provided for you to create yummy meals and snacks. The separate dining room will entice you to linger over supper as you discuss your day’s adventures. A cottage-style staircase leads to the first floor and its three bedrooms – a king-size, a small double and a bunk-bed room for two, sharing a family bathroom. Enjoy the sunshine in the enclosed garden, perhaps grilling some local produce on the BBQ.
The cottage is set within a historic hotel’s 26-acre estate, and you’re welcome to explore its picturesque grounds and formal woodlands, and use its restaurant and bar. Wortley village is just 0.5 miles, where you’ll find a great pub and a sweet tea room, while the charming village of Holmfirth is 14 miles, much-visited due to its iconic status as the location for long-running TV series ‘Last of the Summer Wine’. For a fun, arty day out, Yorkshire Sculpture Park (pups on leads welcome) is 13 miles away.
