Canine Cottages supports Battersea's Wear Blue for Rescue

Battersea 21 September 2023

Battersea’s Wear Blue for Rescue campaign is back this September!

The campaign is about showing our love for the wonderful rescue dogs and cats who really need a second chance in life, both here in the UK and around the world.

Throughout September, we’ll all be coming together to support rescue and help Battersea continue to be here for dogs and cats, wherever they are, for as long as they need us.

Why are Canine Cottages supporting Battersea’s Wear Blue for Rescue?

As one of the UK’s leading animal welfare charities, Battersea has been here for dogs and cats for over 160 years. Having cared for more than three million animals, they have acquired a wealth of knowledge and expertise when it comes to rescue, rehabilitating and rehoming.

Their expertise has allowed them to build trust and affinity with animal lovers across the UK and beyond – by engaging with the wider public to share their knowledge and resources with pet owners and other rescue centres, in addition to campaigning for changes in the law when they feel animals deserve better.

Finding out more about Battersea's CBTA team

This September, we’re proudly supporting Battersea’s Wear Blue for Rescue by raising awareness of the incredible work of their Canine Behaviourist and Training Advisor Team.

Did you know that the dogs at Battersea all have their own unique training and behavioural needs? This can vary from walking on a lead, responding to recall, toilet training and guarding toys and food, as well as anxiety-related behaviours. Battersea’s Canine Behaviourist and Training Advisor Team create these personalised plans for each and every dog at their centres to ensure they have the best chance of being rehomed.

Meet Molly, a canine behaviour and training advisor at Battersea. Her role is to provide behaviour and training support to help dogs get ready to go to their new home.

Sign up for Battersea’s Walk for Rescue

Wear Blue for Rescue offers plenty of ways to support Battersea and show your love for rescue throughout September. An example of this is Walk for Rescue, Battersea’s month-long dog walking challenge, where they’re challenging animal lovers to embark on their own rescue journey by walking 30, 60 or 90km with their furry friend by their side.

Walk for Rescue is open to every human and every dog, no matter where you go, how far you travel, or who you do it with. This is a fantastic way to raise vital funds so Battersea can continue to be here for dogs and cats, all while showing your support for rescue animals everywhere. To get involved, you can sign up for free on Battersea’s website.

Wear the Rescue symbol

You can also show your love for rescue by wearing Battersea’s Rescue symbol. This symbol forms a key part of the Wear Blue for Rescue campaign and is a show of love and support for rescue animals everywhere. You can buy an item featuring the Rescue symbol from Battersea’s online shop

Alternatively, you can show your support by requesting a free Wear Blue for Rescue pin badge or pet tag, featuring the Rescue symbol, for you or your pet to wear with pride wherever you go! Get your free pin badge or pet tag by signing up.

When you donate, you’re not just declaring your love for rescue. You’re also helping Battersea give second chances to animals everywhere.
