Cutest Cotswolds cottages for you and your canine

Content Team 29 July 2019

The Cotswolds is a lovely region of England with gorgeous open spaces and impressive beauty spots to visit with your dog. The local architecture has a distinct look, so keep an eye out for the honey-hued limestone houses, made from Cotswold stone. You can see great examples in Bourton-on-the-Water, Broadway, Stow-on-the-Wold, Minchinhampton and Chipping Campden.

It’s a beautiful part of the country to explore and there are plenty of walks to set tails wagging: The Cotswolds Way National Trail, Nottingham Hill, and Three Woods near Pegglesworth, as well as a leafy circuit around Chastleton village.

A dog-friendly holiday in the Cotswolds is the perfect escape for every person and pup. We have selected some alluring and cute dog-friendly Cotswolds cottages – browse our collection and see which one suits you.

Halfpenny Retreat, near Cheltenham (3 miles)

Interior and exterior shots of Halfpenny Retreat - featuring hot tub and dogs by the wood burner

Sleeps: 1 dog and 2 humans

Why we love it: Perfect for a couple’s break with the hound in tow, this is a cosy cottage that comes complete with a private hot tub. We love the countryside location too. Surrounded by rolling hills, this is just heaven – yet you are still close enough to Cheltenham to enjoy a day at the races, or to explore Bourton-on-the Water and Burford.

Why guests love it: “An absolute gem of a place, home from home comforts, loved the rustic decor, the log burner and Jacuzzi. This was our first trip to the Cotswolds and we were ideally placed to visit all the tourist spots. A well thought out manual detailing everything we needed to know and places to visit. Thank you for the added touches of treats for us all on arrival, Drake was particularly pleased!”  Veronica

Why we love it: If you are looking for a large place to stay with friends and family, and somewhere that welcomes more than one dog, then this grand property would be our pick. Situated on a working farm, this cottage has a homely interior and a delightful courtyard garden. Lying just 7 miles from Cheltenham, this is a superb place to call your home from home in the Cotswolds.

Why guests love it: “Brilliant. Fantastic Cotswolds find. Huge farmhouse, with everything you could possibly need. We wished we could have stayed longer and will definitely book again. We were 3 adults and 2 kids (15 and 10) and none of us could fault it. Clean, well-equipped and excellent location, only 20 mins from Gloucester, Cheltenham and Tewkesbury, so ideal location. Garden/driveway was 100% secure for our 2 golden retrievers. Can't recommend enough (and already have to 3 people).” Jason

Winter’s Tale is a peaceful haven in a fabulous location that was the home of Anne Hathaway, William Shakespeare’s wife.

The focal point of the gorgeous lounge is the exposed Cotswold stone wall and fireplace featuring a spectacular open fire, which Rex will love curling up in front of. We’ve no doubt the large, enclosed garden will also be popular with the four-legged member of the group. They can explore while you relax on the tranquil patio.
