Battersea’s Wear Blue for Rescue campaign is back this September and you can get involved!
The campaign is all about showing our love for the wonderful rescue dogs and cats who really need a second chance in life, both here in the UK and around the world. Throughout September, we’ll all be coming together to help Battersea continue to be here for dogs and cats, wherever they are, for as long as they need us.
If you're keen to book a holiday with us, take a look through our Canine Comfort collection of pet-friendly cottages with extra dog-friendly features, where £20 of each booking goes to Battersea. Read on to find out how you can support Battersea's Wear Blue for Rescue campaign this September.

Why are Canine Cottages supporting Battersea’s Wear Blue for Rescue?
As one of the UK’s leading animal welfare charities, Battersea has been there for dogs and cats for over 160 years. Having cared for more than three million animals, they have acquired a wealth of knowledge and expertise when it comes to rescue, rehabilitating and rehoming.
Their expertise has allowed them to build trust and affinity with animal lovers across the UK and beyond – by engaging with the wider public to share their knowledge and resources with pet owners and other rescue centres, in addition to campaigning for changes in the law when they feel animals deserve better.
Battersea's Wear Blue for Rescue is all about showing our love and support for rescue dogs and their pet parents too! We adore our canine pals, so it was a no-brainer to get involved in this fantastic campaign that celebrates rescue dogs everywhere.
Behind the scenes: Meet Battersea's CBTA team
This September, we’re proudly supporting Battersea’s Wear Blue for Rescue by raising awareness of the incredible work of their Canine Behaviourist and Training Advisor Team.
Did you know that the dogs at Battersea all have their own training and behavioural needs? This can vary from walking on a lead, responding to recall, toilet training and guarding toys and food, as well as anxiety-related behaviours. Battersea’s Canine Behaviourist and Training Advisor Team create these personalised plans for every dog at their centres to ensure they have the best chance of being rehomed.
Meet Molly, a canine behaviour and training advisor at Battersea. Her role is to provide behaviour and training support to help dogs get ready to go to their new home.
The team works with each animal to assess their needs and provide behavioural and training support tailored to those needs.
Battersea's advisors work closely with people as well as animals, helping people train their dogs and supporting other rescue centres worldwide through the Battersea Academy.
Molly helped beautiful rescue pup Milo to work on his manners and excitable behaviour. He has now found his perfect home.
Layla is staying with a Battersea staff member and hopefully going to her forever home soon.
Molly says Battersea is grateful for Canine Cottages' support as it helps dogs and cats find their second home and a second chance at life. Visit the Battersea online shop to show your support.
If you'd like any advice or support from Battersea, they've provided us with lots of wonderful guides and articles in our Canine Care series, where we provide top tips for looking after your canine companion. Or sign up for The Battersea Way pet advice email series, which we proudly sponsor.
How can I get involved in Battersea’s Wear Blue for Rescue?
Sign up for Battersea’s Walk for Rescue
Wear Blue for Rescue offers plenty of ways to support Battersea and show your love for rescue throughout September. An example of this is Walk for Rescue, Battersea’s month-long dog walking challenge, where they’re challenging animal lovers to embark on their own rescue journey by walking 30, 60 or 90km with their furry friend by their side.
Walk for Rescue is open to every human and every dog, no matter where you go, how far you travel, or who you do it with. This is a fantastic way to raise vital funds so Battersea can continue to be there for dogs and cats, all while showing your support for rescue animals everywhere. To get involved, you can sign up for free on Battersea’s website.

When you donate, you’re not just declaring your love for rescue. You’re also helping Battersea give second chances to animals everywhere.
