Perfect for exploring the stunning Yorkshire countryside, this charming Grade II-listed cottage, set just on the outskirts of the historic town of Richmond, is a perfect romantic retreat for two.

Venture out into the Yorkshire Dales National Park when you stay at this immaculate, bijou holiday home for two with your best furry friend. Find many footpaths to follow through picturesque countryside and make trips to dog-friendly sights and attractions in the area from your base in the town of Richmond. Head up to the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for days out together in spectacular scenery. The historic, one-bedroom cottage on the edge of the vibrant town has been expertly and exquisitely renovated to offer all three of you very comfortable accommodation.

Step into the period, terraced house to find its inviting open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is perfect for a romantic break. Switch on the living flame fire and unwind in front of the TV or a DVD while your furry friend stretches out on the rug. Prepare tasty meals in your kitchen area and enjoy cosy dinners together at the table. Bid your perfect pet goodnight, then climb the open-tread oak and glass staircase up to your bedroom and its en-suite wet room. A second TV can be found up here too, and a handy washer/dryer is located in the kitchen.

Enjoy a 4-mile circular walk from the market square in Richmond. This route passes close to Richmond Castle before dropping down onto the River Swale and following a disused railway line back to town. Rest tired paws and have some refreshments in one of the town’s dog-friendly pubs. Make your way to the edge of the Yorkshire Dales 2.5 miles away, to follow footpaths through the beautiful landscape. Visit striking Middleham Castle, once home to Richard III: this is 12 miles from your base. Wander the grounds with your pup and marvel at the ruins.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The property is situated down a terraced street in the heart of Richmond, a charming market town on the borders of Wensleydale and Swaledale. Richmond boasts an 11th century castle, fine Georgian architecture, an historic Georgian theatre and a large cobbled market square as some of its many attractions. Stroll into town for a cup of Yorkshire tea at one of the many tea rooms there or pop over for dinner at one of the excellent restaurants.

Richmond is also known as 'The Gateway to the Dales' so expect stunning Dales scenery within minutes of leaving the town. Peppering this glorious countryside are countless attractive little towns and villages and if you enjoy a bit of surreal entertainment, how about visit to the quite brilliant Forbidden Corner, an attraction full of statues and hidden surprises just over 14 miles away near Middleham.

Film and TV buffs will also love exploring the many well-known filming locations nearby. Head down to the famous limestone pavements at Malham Cove, 42 miles, where Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was filmed. Or head for lunch at the Kings Arms in Askrigg, just under 20 miles away, and see if you can recall it from the pub scenes in All Creatures Great and Small.

The historic village of Easby, home to Easby Abbey, is just a mile from the cottage and is easily walkable along the river. Set on the banks of the River Swale, the Abbey is the perfect spot for a picnic in the summer months. There are lots of other breathtaking historical sites to explore in the Dales, including the stunning Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, 28 miles, a World Heritage Site.

This is a superb area for walkers and cyclists with many routes from the site or just a short distance away. The famous coast to coast walking route passes within a few hundred metres of the site. Follow in the cycle tracks of the Tour de France stars who cycled here in the summer of 2014.

And with York, Harrogate and the North York Moors all within easy striking distance (under an hour’s drive on a clear run) you have lots of choice for day trips!

Lovely, comfortable, little cottage in a perfect location. Richmond is a gem of a town with good shopping, restaurants and friendly people. We went on some great walks along the River Swale and across the moors. The cottage is small but has everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable break.

The road noise is quite considerable, they do mention it, and the cottage has many excellent things going for it, but it's central location on a busy main road out of town, makes the noise hard to ignore.

Small, beautifully equipped and exploits limited space to maximum effect. Excellent Welcome Hamper. Convenient location and easy access to town and local areas of interest. Two negative points: Busy, noisy road outside with regular overnight traffic, especially HGV's and no external seating / garden area. Otherwise, very good.
