A real woodman's cottage set in the tranquil woodlands, wake in the morning to the symphony of birdsong and wind down at the end of the day in front of the crackling wood burner.

This woodland retreat is straight out of the pages of a storybook and set in the perfect location for daily adventures with your canine companion. Based just 2 miles from Brecon, this charming cottage enjoys a secluded position amongst ancient trees within scampering distance of the River Usk. Pack up a picnic and leave no stick ‘unfetched’, returning to rest weary paws by the fire in your cosy accommodation that has ample sleeping space for three guests and one pup.

Brimming with old-world charm, this property has exposed beams, curved walls and wooden lintels to create a wonderfully snug aesthetic. Underfloor heating will keep your faithful friend toasty on chilly evenings, especially when you are hunkering down in the country-cottage kitchen for tea and cake. Curl up in the lounge by the wood burner with a well-deserved glass of wine and a few tasty treats or indulge in a spot of pampering in the fantastic bathroom with its roll-top bath and walk-in shower. Climbing a set of steep cottage-style stairs will bring you to your sleeping quarters; a spacious bedroom with a king-size bed reached via the landing which also features a handy single bed. Wake up to birdsong and delicious al fresco breakfasts in the small, terraced area, and at dusk, you can toast marshmallows on the BBQ before taking an evening stroll through the natural garden.

Discover enchanted woodland spanning over 200 acres from the comfort of your doorstep, padding the 1.5-mile route to the nearest pub for a slap-up lunch or a nip of something delicious on blustery days. Keen fishermen will delight in the 2 miles of double bank fishing for trout and salmon on the estate or change pace with a busy afternoon in Brecon browsing the independent shops and watching the resident glassblowers in action.

Clean, authentic cottage located in peacful woodland. Most comfortable bed we have slept in in all of the cottages we have previously stayed in. Fresh, crisp bed linen also a plus. Friendly local people in Brecon. Unfortunately had lots of rain during our stay so lots of mud around, but didn't stop us exploring the area.

An absolute gem of a cottage, remote, comfortable and extremely cozy, the underfloor heating was a dream. So nice to stay somewhere so peaceful with lovely walks close by and also within driving distance, after years of cottage holidays up and down the country this one is most definitely our favourite so far.

Amazing traditional cottage. Beautifully warm and cosy. Loved how the traditional features had been kept but with all the home comforts. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Lovely walks straight from the cottage door.

If youre lucky enough to book this cottage you are in for a real treat. Set with in a private forest and away from the general public the location is outstanding. A lovely, cosy cottage in an amazing location. Handy for lots of walking, and a wonderful location to relax after an active day. Lots of wildlife, especially birds, in the local area. Brecon is handy for shopping, beer and eating out. The cottage stairs are steep, but the handrail is helpful. Walks in the local woods are a must, and the Ghurka TraiRead morel route into Brecon is a great alternative to walking the lanes (during the day). Hide

We enjoyed our second stay in this lovely cottage. It's off the beaten track in extensive private woodlands which were great to explore with our dog. There is noise from the A40 but we still felt like we had escaped from the world. Highly recommended if you can manage time without WiFi and with very little phone reception - bliss.

Woodman Parrys cottage was the perfect location for a holiday during a heatwave! Such a gorgeous property with so much history and character and lovely and cool in amongst the trees. Our little spaniel was beside herself to be out exploring in the garden which was open but very safe as the woodland is private. This was our third time staying. It really does feel like home. We didn't want for anything, except maybe a bit more sunshine so we could sit outside more. The bird song is beautiful and the abundance of red kites around Brecon is fantastic.
