In the lush embrace of the Exe Valley, this sumptuous cabin provides a magical escape. Like something plucked from the wilds of Alaska, this retreat is hugged by leafy trees and overlooks a floodlit pond. Surrounded by 100 acres of private woodland, the lodge is in a certified conservation area and provides the ultimate couple’s retreat. Grant your pup a new leash of life in this verdant sanctuary and settle in. With room for two and your four-legged friend, this is a pet’s paradise brimming with opportunities to explore, play and, of course, relax.

Infusing cabin chic with contemporary touches, the lodge playfully combines rustic themes with welcoming home comforts. Its lovely wooden interiors nod to the cabin’s authentic charm, and with calming tones and plenty of light, two and four-legged members of your clan will immediately feel at home. Coming inside from the garden, you will be met by the generous open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner where all you could need for your break is provided. Let your sleeping dog lie at your feet as you snuggle up on the sofa in front of the wood burner-effect electric fire. When you are ready, a comfortable double bedroom awaits where you can drift off to sleep with the whisper of a breeze through the trees.

With beautiful, untouched woodland all around, the area is home to lots of wildlife and walks. Keep your eyes peeled for the birds, deer, foxes and badgers who also live onsite. Try your hand at fly fishing in the property’s grounds or wander the trails and routes with your dog. Less than 3 miles away, Exmoor National Park offers a wealth of choice for things to see and do too. After a day’s exploring together, the dog-friendly Anchor Inn (1.5 miles away) offers drinks and hot food.

Track to Wonham Lodge is offroad, anyone not comfortable with 100m of steep rocky trail beware! missing essentials like coffee, hair drier and ironing board/iron. Advertised as having wifi but it didn't work. Woodlands are great and you are easy access to places like bat's iron age castle, river exe and a plethora of pubs and hiking trails. Wonham lodge is rated 3 star. Personally I would give it 4. Can't be beaten for peace and quiet with a woodland walk literally on the doorstep but a nice little town only a few minutes drive away. One section of the steep track up to the lodge is particularly hairy and could do with some attention. It was also disappointing not to have a hairdryer Read moresupplied but hey, we survived and enjoyed our stay. Hide

A perfect, remote getaway. The setting literally in the middle of a forest is so beautiful and peaceful and lots of lovely walks right on the doorstep. It's a great location to explore local villages (we loved Bampton) and to get to the coast. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable with everything you need for a relaxing break.

This place was amazing! We usually go camping but with a dog who cannot be let off her lead we were looking for somewhere where my husband didnt have to have her tied to his arm all night. A very secluded spot with total peace and quiet.the place was spotless and the owner was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!

Lodge is in a peaceful location, and is comfortable. The shower is excellent. The one drawback is the rutted track up to the lodge. We were there in cold weather and the track became icy and treacherous.

The cabin is lovely and secluded. As described it is small and has a basic level of equipment in the kitchen. However. we found the cabin to be very cosy and comfortable. The shower was the best I have used, and the bed was restful. It was great to be able to walk the dog off-lead in the woods. At night when the skies are clear you can see the starRead mores in all their glory. The owner was exceptionally helpful with recommendations and answering any queries. Warm and relaxing was our experience. Hide
