Tucked back from the road, behind a farmhouse at the edge of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this charming byre has been restored with a mix of character and contemporary style, which makes for a warm and inviting location for up to five guests and one four-legged friend. The area offers a wealth of walking opportunities, which are sure to get tails wagging, with plenty of medieval villages, historic churches, and stately homes to sniff out along the way.
Set across a single-storey, the property has two double bedrooms and a single room (note there are two steps up to the rooms), with a separate bathroom with shower over bath and WC. A light and airy kitchen/diner provides the perfect place to come together for a meal after a day of exploring, or you might want to head onto the patio, which provides an al fresco dining option when the weather is warmer, as well as access to the open gardens and orchard. On cooler evenings the property’s lounge with wood burner is a cosy retreat, or you and your pack could seek sanctuary in the local village pub, less than quarter of a mile from your door.
While the village of Upper Brailes has a local newsagent, butcher, baker and pubs that will fulfil your everyday needs, the small town of Shipston-On-Stour lies 3 miles west. Here you will find a wider range of eateries and shops, as well as access to multiple walks, ranging from riverside rambles to more energetic hill climbs and access to the 102-mile Centenary Way. History hounds will also be within easy reach of Shakespeare’s birthplace, with Stratford upon Avon a mere 14 miles to the north-west, while the medieval streets and castle at Warwick lie 20 miles to the north.
