This cosy cottage is in an idyllic location and ideally suited for walkers and couples wanting to explore the abundance of historic towns and Sussex coastline, just a short distance away.

This pretty property, on the edge of the picturesque village of Lamberhurst, makes a perfect romantic retreat for you, a loved one and a special four-legged friend. You’ll be in dog-walking heaven, with a network of paths and trails criss-crossing from your doorstep across the beautiful High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Just 2 miles away is National Trust’s Scotney Castle, where you and the pup can explore the gorgeous 780-acre estate.

The cottage, located in the owner’s grounds, has a handy hallway for storing all your dog-walking gear. After a day of adventure, curl up on the sofa, with Fido stretched out at your feet, in the cosy lounge area and pop on a good film or relax with your favourite book. After a romantic dinner for two, retire to the bedroom, which boasts fabulous views across the surrounding countryside. Outside, the enclosed outdoor area also has spectacular rural views. On a warm evening, fire up the BBQ and dine under the stars whilst the hound potters around the garden.

A relaxing afternoon can be spent at Scotney Castle - there’s a great selection of dog walks that you can take through the grounds, before grabbing a bite to eat in the tearoom, where there’s a handy undercover outdoor seating area for you and the woofer. If you fancy a walk to really get your canines into, why not take on the 90-mile High Weald Landscape Trail? The route meanders through the countryside, linking ridge-top villages and historic gardens and you can join it at Groombridge, 10 miles away. Day trips to the coast are also possible from the property, with the popular medieval town of Rye and the gorgeous golden sands at Camber both within 25 miles of the property.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Set in beautiful rural surroundings with walks on your doorstep. The cottage is a good size and well equipped for a comfortable stay. There is plenty to see and do within a short drive. I would recommend this property in particular to other people with dogs/keen walkers.

The cottage was very clean and up to date in a beautiful but remote location. We felt the closeness of the amenities ie pubs and shops had been misleading in the advertising as for us it meant always using the car. Having said that though the grounds were beautiful.

White Magpie Cottage was a great place to stay. The location was beautiful & so peaceful. The owners were on hand if needed. This cottage is in a beautiful location with countryside walks directly from the garden. Although in the grounds of the owners' house, it was quite private and there was ample parking space.

We had a fabulous 7 day break at White Magpie Cottage. The accommodation was very clean, warm and cosy and the location of the cottage is absolutely stunning. My wife and I enjoyed a lovely couple of nights away in the White Magpie, it was a stormy weekend and the cottage was perfectly warm and snug, and when the weather broke we were in walking distance from some great local pubs for a some good food at the Elephant's Head and the Old Vineyard. Would definitely like to come back.

The cottage is well equipped but has no oven - it was a microwave/oven/grill. Basic but clean. Owners very friendly and Answered any questions/concerns quickly. The phone signal is bad in the village but there is wifi at the cottage. Be prepared to drive to pubs to eat - but worth the drive.
