Walkers and hikers will also be keen to make use of the wonderful routes linked directly from the property.

This single-storey property offers a charming feel yet has plenty of space where you can let the kids and up to five dogs play happily. The light and bright traditional lounge is decked in wooden and leisure furnishings, which are easily wipeable should any accidents occur, while an open fire is situated at the centre of the room, providing a cosy atmosphere after a busy day exploring the local attractions. The neutral-toned kitchen is well-equipped with all of the amenities you’ll ever need. There are also three bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate six people and a spacious enclosed garden which is perfect for dogs, while you sit back and enjoy the rolling hills and countryside views from the seating area.

The beach and the centre of Huntley are both 9 miles from the cottage, while the closest shop, restaurant and pub are 6 miles away. This means that everything you need is in short driving distance should you wish to venture out of the peace and quiet and find the buzz in the surrounding areas.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Despite its relative isolation, the property is only 4 miles from the shops and eateries of the small village of Aberchirder, also known as Foggieloan, which has an intriguing layout and history. Further afield is the slightly larger market town of Huntly (13 miles), which also has a range of places to eat and shop. You'll find Huntly Castle here, which is full of history and worth a visit, along with the Nordic and Outdoor Centre which is the only purpose-built, all-weather facility for Nordic skiing. The River Deveron flows through Huntly, which is a good spot for salmon fishing and other water sports such as kayaking.

North of the property, you will find the beautiful coastline with its sandy beaches and charming villages. Portsay (8.5 miles) is famous for its marble, which used to be sent off to Versailles, and can now be bought in the form of jewellery, and Cullen (12.5 miles) is the seaside village where the popular delicacy Cullen Skink originated.

If birds of prey are of interest to you, the North East Falconry Centre is 14 miles away, although if you prefer country homes, head to National Trust Scotland's Leith Hall (20 miles). Alternatively, follow the Speyside Malt Whisky Trail, which takes you on a tour of local distilleries, allowing you to discover the history and taste of the many types of local whisky.
