Prime location on the shores of Loch Fyne. One of two traditional holiday lodges which lies 2 miles south of Ardrishaig and its sister town Lochgilphead in the Heart of Argyll with stunning views.

Steeped in fascinating Scottish history, this unique wooden holiday lodge makes a perfect base for exploring Argyll and the Islands. Here you will wake up to incredible views across the beautiful Loch Fyne, with the lounge area opening directly onto the shore. Sleeping four, there’s even room for up to two furry friends, who are sure to love getting sandy paws as they have a ball by the water’s edge.

The quaint lodge is dotted with cosy country details throughout to help make the whole family feel at home. The dogs will love curling up beside the patio doors and watching the wildlife on the shore, while you relax beside them on the comfortable sofas, buttery popcorn in-hand, watching your favourite family film. On warmer evenings, or perhaps before the day’s activities have begun, venture out onto the decking area and drink in the incredible, far-reaching loch views, which are simply stunning whatever the weather.

Follow the Crinan Canal on foot or by bike, journeying through idyllic Scottish countryside from Ardrishaig to Crinan - a route known as Scotland’s most beautiful shortcut. It’s a great spot for fishing, paddling and boating too, so there’s really something for everyone. Spend your days exploring castles, ruins and clan seats in the area, including Castle Sween (18.5 miles) - thought to be the oldest castle on the Scottish mainland - and Kilmartin Glen’s famous stone circles (14 miles). Energetic families (with their equally energetic canine companions) will also love Dunadd Fort (8 miles), where the ancient kings of Scotland were crowned and extraordinary carvings can be found.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 double and 1 twin
  • 1 bathroom with shower over bath and WC
  • Kitchen - electric oven and hob, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer
  • Electric and central heating included
  • Towels available to hire
  • 2 dogs welcome
  • TV/DVD in lounge
  • Shops and restaurant 2 miles away

This is a wonderful area for taking part in numerous activities including mountain biking, walking, canoeing and fishing. You can take boat trips out to discover some of the nearby islands and lochs. Ardrishaig (1.5 miles) is a charming village with a number of great places to eat and drink, or you can visit Lochgilphead (4 miles) which offers a range of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as a swimming pool and bike hire facilities. From nearby Tarbert (10 miles) you can catch a ferry across Loch Fyne to visit the lovely Portavadie (15 miles). The pretty village of Kilmartin (11.5 miles) is steeped in history, and the surrounding province of Lorne is known for its immense concentration of ancient monuments, standing stones and burial cairns. Among the many nearby landmarks and sites are Dunadd Fort (8 miles) – where you can declare yourself king or queen for the day, Temple Wood Stone Rings, the Neither Largie Cairns, the Nether Largie Standing Stones (all within 11 miles) and the remains of Carnasserie Castle (12.5 miles). Nature lovers can visit the national nature reserves at Moine Mhor (10 miles) and Taynish (16 miles), the Argyll Beaver and Wildlife Visitor Centre in Barrandaimh (9 miles) or the spectacular Knapdale Forest (9.5 miles). You can also explore the 200-year old Crinan Canal by foot, bike or boat (6 miles) or visit the beautiful National Trust property of Arduaine Garden set on the Sound of Jura (22 miles).

The lodge is very small ( on site of caravan) and within a few metres of the busiest trunk road sandwiched between the road and the loch. Noise is almost continuous both day and night as heavy goods vehicles and logging lorries use the road. This ruined our holiday as good views of the loch cannot compensate for the traffic disturbance. The interioRead morer is in poor condition and needs renovating. Hide

Our chalet by the shores of Loch Fyne was exactly as it was pictured. We had a slight problem with the fridge breaking down; the owners were extremely helpful. In a beautiful setting, close to amenities. If you want a peaceful break, and can blank out the noise of some nearby traffic, then this is the place to be.

All in all, a pleasant property in a superb lochside setting with magnificent views. We found the accommodation reasonably comfortable and well equipped (with reservations about the narrowness of the beds in the twin bedded room). Light sleepers and dog owners should be aware, that the property is very close to a busy main road.
