Pretty cottage set in large shared grounds located in Field Head, overlooking the beautiful Esthwaite Valley, close to Lake Windermere and Coniston Water.

Located in Field Head and overlooking the stunning Esthwaite Valley, this pretty 17th-century cottage is a super choice for those looking to explore the Lake District with their canine companions. Keen walkers, climbers and stick chasers will be in their element, with some fantastic local trails passing the front door. Sleeping up to three guests and two hounds, this rural hideaway makes for a relaxing getaway with a local pub, shop and restaurant all within 1.5 miles.

Set within 5 acres of shared landscaped gardens and grounds, this charming property is thought to have once been the weaver’s gallery of the original farmhouse. Tastefully designed in neutral tones, it is full of character and offers a real home-from-home feel. The large shared hallway leads into a spacious lounge/diner where Fido will soon be dreaming of walks and bones in front of the wood burner-effect electric fire. Rustle up a tasty treat for everyone in the well-equipped kitchen, before settling down to enjoy a film on the comfortable sofas. The accommodation is on one level and there are two bedrooms offering a calming and restful atmosphere at the end of the day. Step outside into the shared gardens, where you’ll find plenty of seating areas to relax in, while your four-legged pals sniff out some new adventures. Cyclists can also store their bicycles in the handy barn storage area.

Take a wander into the nearby village of Hawkshead (1 mile) which has a range of shops and pubs. Pull on your walking boots and prepare for some muddy paws by joining the picturesque Tarn Hows circular trail (4 miles) which takes in some majestic mountain views. Take to the water and join a cruise across Lake Windemere, 6 miles away, where dogs travel for free!

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Lovely location and interior features. Local walks nearby perfect for dogs, but they must be kept on leads due to livestock.

Very outdated, in desperate need of modernising... although spacey and roomy the whole cottage, including the furnishings need upgrading... Very disappointing for the price paid....

The cottage was in a great spot in my opinion - it offers peace and quiet which is what I personally wanted. We made the most of the facilities on offer, which were ok for 3 people. I wouldn't stay there again, purely based on proximity to Keswick, I also thought it was slighrly over-priced which is only based on inner space and the equipment availRead moreable. I would however recommend it to anyone looking for a tranquil spot which is close to Ambleside. Hide

A perfect, peaceful location, offering easy reach of many attractions by foot and/ or car. A very comfortable cottage which was clean and warm (so helpful given the weather!) with everything you need supplied. Local pub (Outgate) very welcoming and offering delicious food and it was easy to reach on foot fro the cottage (20 mins walk).
