This modern coastal house has an enviable elevated position in the centre of pretty Appledore, with views of the estuary from several of its spacious rooms and an outdoor area perfect for the visiting doggo.

The reverse layout makes the most of the stunning views, with an open-plan living area on the first floor and bedrooms both above and below. There’s no excuse not to cook up a storm in the kitchen, with an American-style fridge/freezer, plus double oven and microwave. A door from the kitchen opens onto the patio dining area and lawned garden, making it easy to enjoy dinner al fresco if the weather allows. On colder days, there’s a dining table big enough for everyone, as well as comfortable sofas with a range of family games to get stuck into. Two sitting areas mean you can set the kids up with a film and enjoy chatting over drinks in the other, and the balcony with sea views is the perfect spot to enjoy the last of the summer sun with a glass of something cold.

Walk down the hill 500 metres to the waterfront, and browse the independent shops and cafes or take a boat trip on the river. Catch the ferry across to dog-friendly Instow Beach and climb the sand dunes or stroll along the promenade. It’s 1.5 miles to Northam Burrows, a heaven for dogs to roam, and about 3 miles to sandy Westward Ho! beach which is a popular place to learn to surf, and has some excellent rock pools to explore at low tide."

Good value if 8 adults are sharing cost, but a little expensive if 1 family member pays.

We were a group of 6 adults and two dogs. Waterhayes was the perfect house for us, comfortable, clean, spacious and fabulous views. The location is really good. We hope to return.

This is a very nice property in a lovely fishing village. We very much enjoyed our stay and would defiantly stay again.

Waterhays was a beautiful holiday home for two families to meet up and to spend quality time together. Ideally situated for the quay, the little ferry over to Instow and beyond, plus the typical quaint character and amenities that Appledore provides. The house had plenty of living and outdoor space for 7 adults plus a small dog, and with stunning vRead moreiews to wake up to every morning. What's not to like! Hide

Lovely house, well laid out and loved the views across the estuary. Appledore is a quaint place and we liked the fact it wasnt overly busy. Downside was garden is not secure for small dogs.
