This cosy cottage for two is in a great location to experience the gorgeous Northumberland countryside in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The cottage is traditional and makes you feel relaxed with its centrepiece wood burner and inviting sofas to sink into after a day’s adventure. The area is perfect for those who love walking and, with the property welcoming along your four-legged friend, there is no need for anyone to miss out on this holiday.

The kitchen has been completed to a high standard and the mix of stone flooring and contemporary decor makes for an inviting setting to rustle up a home-cooked meal. The lounge/diner is light and airy with the mezzanine floor above creating an open and spacious feel. This space is perfect for settling down for the evening with a glass of red wine, snuggled in front of a roaring fire. For those warmer evenings, the outside seating area accessed through the kitchen is a fantastic spot to take in the countryside views and say hello to the neighbouring alpacas.The surrounding fields give this property a wonderfully secluded feel making for a peaceful holiday destination.

Shotley Bridge is a village on the River Derwent, providing great walking routes and a chance for your pooch to cool down by taking a dip. Just a 2-mile country walk away, you'll find a dog-friendly pub offering fine food and ales, and a wonderful scenic view from its garden. Newcastle upon Tyne is 17.5 miles away for a day trip shopping or taking in the history and heritage of this university city. Pass through the adjoining city of Gateshead (16 miles) for a glimpse of its famous Millennium Bridge.

Lovely cottage, very clean and has everything you need. Lovely location, plenty of walks nearby and within easy reach of Beamish Museum, Durham and Newcastle. Lots of good places nearby to eat, especially the Derwent Manor Hotel, a 15 minute walk or a 3 minute drive away. They do a great 3 course menu between 5 -7pm Mon-Thurs at 13.95 and the food Read moreis excellent. Host Michael met us as we arrived and gave us instructions for heating etc and told us of places to visit and local restaurants. Hide
