Peacefully tucked away within the rolling meadows of the surrounding countryside, this charming barn full of character will take you back in time, perfect for couples looking to escape. New to our collection in May 2017.

Set a mile from Mamhilad and Penperlleni in the south-eastern corner of the sublime Brecon Beacons, this charming barn conversion will have humans and doggies dreaming of wild Celtic adventures. Lying 7.5 miles south of the ancient market town of Abergavenny - the Gateway to Wales - and with a plethora of gorgeous walks all around, you and your furry friends will be immersed in unforgettable memories. Explore the exquisite Goytre Wharf and Brecon Canal (2 miles), and the myriad of waymarked paths meandering through meadows and farmlands. There’s a superb canine-friendly pub within a short stroll (0.5 miles), and another just over a mile to the south.

The barn’s interior is bursting with old country charm and sleek modern comforts. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is a haven of wood beams set around quaint copper and cosy fabrics. Imbibe the past whilst savouring the fresh local produce of the present. Gather around the stone hearth and crackling wood burner, then sink into a steaming bath before drifting away in the super king-size bedroom; in the morning, open the French doors on the patio with hot coffee and croissants, to begin another thrilling day. The surrounding gardens will melt modern stresses away.

Hike the Black Mountains with your faithful friends and discover the magical mysteries of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (25 miles). Visit the Abergavenny Food Festival in September, the Hay Festival of Literature and Arts (33 miles) in May/June and Brecon Jazz (28 miles) from January to August. Explore the history, culture, shops, pubs, museums, galleries and cathedrals of Cardiff (26 miles). Bask on dog-friendly beaches at Newport (21 miles), Porthcawl (32 miles) and Jacksons Bay, near Barry (36 miles). Climb Sugarloaf Mountain (10 miles) for astounding views of your new favourite land.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Vedw Barn Haven is perfect for a real get away from it all break. The cottage and gardens are charming and well equipped. Cottage is lovely with lovely gardens. Couldn't really fault it at all. What we didn't like was the narrow one track lane to it and so we wouldn't go again but only because of that.
