Popping with colour and vibrant homely touches, this seaside home in Instow is only moments from the sea. With room for up to six guests and your four-legged friend, you will all be tracing foot and pawprints in the sand in no time and dining alfresco in one of the village’s dog-friendly eateries. Come rain or shine, this beautiful part of Devon has ample things to see and do in walking distance for all generations, two-legged and four, before you amble back home and gather in the lounge for an evening of books and board games.
Hose off sandy paws and toes in the courtyard’s heated shower before heading inside this spirited seaside cottage. Met by the attractive lounge/diner, squidgy sofas, a wood burner, TV and a family-sized dining table and chairs provide plenty of comfort on rainy days. Make your way into the well-equipped kitchen and rummage through the fridge to prepare a feast for kings and queens whilst Fido waits dutifully for any leftovers! When the clouds part, the enclosed garden has outdoor furniture, a small lawn area and a charcoal BBQ. While the kids play fetch with Fido, fire up the grill and plonk on some locally sourced goodies for a sizzling feast. When eyelids get heavy, the stairs will lead you to the first floor, where three dreamy bedrooms await.
Pick up treats for breakfast in the local deli before poring over plans for the day. Mere yards away is Instow’s dog-friendly beach, while 5 miles down the road, Westward Ho! beach also has year-round dog-friendly sections, accessed from Northam Burrows road. For a scenic day out, jump aboard the Instow-Appledore ferry or, for a day your furry friend will never forget, pick up the Tarka Trail that runs through the village. Boasting miles of traffic-free paths, it’s doggy heaven.
