Do you love taking your dogs on long, energetic walks alongside rivers, lochs and wild forest paths? Then we might just have the holiday home for you. This charming former blacksmith's cottage is located within Cairngorms National Park for guaranteed spectacular scenery. With lovely views and a huge garden, it's a lovely place to spend some quality time away from it all. With space for up to four humans and two dogs, this property is just right for couples or smaller families.

This old stone house has been modernised to provide all the creature comforts you and your pet need, including plenty of cosy spots to sleep and an open fire perfect for your dog to flop in front of after a day exploring. In the games room, play table tennis while the dog cocks her head wondering what all the commotion is about. The garden, complete with a pond, seating and a BBQ, is a lovely spot to relax and absorb the countryside views. On sunny days, take couple of slices of shortbread and a cuppa out and enjoy them on the bench while your canine companions chase their tails on the lawn nearby.

Surrounded by farmland and forest, this cottage is every nature lover's dream – if you're lucky (and if your pups are calm) you may spot some lovely red squirrels. Explore the area on foot or bike with your pets, perhaps heading to the River Avon (1 mile) or the nearest village, Tomintoul. Here you'll find a few craft shops and a dog-friendly pub where you can go for a pint or a nip of whisky. Keen hikers and fit pets may tackle some of the mountains in the national park, which attracts hillwalkers from all over the world.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

After spending a week at Tomachlaggan Smithy, we decided before we left that we would be back and have booked a week later in the year. This cottage, after staying at quite a few, had everything. Peace, tranquility and a spectacular view. Yes, it rained for the majority of the week we were there, but being Scottish, this was nothing new to us! We totally enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage. We arrived here after a long wet drive to be met with a very clean and tidy cottage (especially with regard to the covid recommendations). There was a plentiful supply of wood, coal and even firelighers, so we were soon warm and settled in. The cottage has such a beautiful and peaceful location. WRead moree enjoyed watching birds and red squirrels in the garden and we saw deer every time we took our dog for it's last walk of the day. Hide

Lovely cottage in a beautiful, peaceful location. Loved our cosy nights in front of log fire. Our dog loved the huge enclosed garden. Saw red squirrels, deer, owls etc. Spectacular roads and scenery around about. Want to go back.

The cottage is a great size, the second sitting room is brilliant if you're travelling with older kids as it gives them their own space without them being in their bedrooms. In easy reach of lots of things to do.

A real getaway from it all very quiet apart from sheep. But wildlife and garden fantastic . I would not recommend going if you are wanting to use upstairs bedroom stairs and access bit dangerous in my opinion.
