This pretty cottage lies just 4 miles from the historic market town of Keswick and is an ideal couples’ retreat – accompanied by up to two furry friends, of course! With a snug open-plan space that sleeps two in peace, and with plenty of space for the pups to relax, you’ll soon be itching to get out of the door and discover the beautiful scenery on the doorstep. Just take a look outside the front door at the spectacular views of Skiddaw that overlook the shared garden, then head out to explore nearby Derwentwater (4 miles) that dogs will love roaming around.
The cottage, which sits on a plot with two other cottages and another property, has a comfy and traditional feel with neutral styling throughout. Prepare a big breakfast for the day in the kitchen and enjoy your morning brew at the breakfast bar or at the table in the lounge, looking out through the arch into the enclosed communal garden. Exposed beams and cosy sofas welcome you to sink into them after a long day – pop your feet up in front of the gas fire with the hounds snoozing nearby and replenish your energy for the next day of adventure.
Head to Keswick for the market that has been taking place since 1276 and pick up some local produce that everyone back at home will be jealous of. To the south of Keswick is Friars Crag (4.5 miles from the property), which John Ruskin described as one of the most beautiful scenes in Europe, and is the perfect spot for a romantic walk. Travel further to Grasmere (17.5 miles) for some iconic views and sample some of the most delicious gingerbread you will ever taste at the Grasmere Gingerbread Shop – you won’t be sharing it with Fido!
