If you’re a couple looking for a quirky yet romantic rural getaway, this glamping spot in the Cornish countryside should do the trick. We know your beloved pets are part of the family too, so you certainly won’t want to leave them at home – this cosy log cabin welcomes up to two canines too. Surrounded by a huge grassy lawn and natural woodlands, the accommodation is perfect for both energetic dogs and nature-loving humans alike.

The inside is deliciously cosy, with a bedroom/lounge and a small kitchenette where you can prepare meals. On cold evenings, light up the wood burner and warm your hands as your pooch settles down for the night, dreaming of chasing foxes through the trees. Outside, there’s plenty of space for relaxing. Grab a newspaper and a cuppa and spend some time on the covered porch while Fido happily chews up sticks on the lawn. There’s also a cute wooden gazebo where you can shelter from the rain or sun while still enjoying being outdoors – cook up a feast on the BBQ, not forgetting to sling Fido a burger or two for a holiday treat.

The cabin is located in the village of Latchley, which sits on the River Tamar – the perfect setting for nice long walks. This river eventually leads down to Plymouth on the south coast (19 miles away), which you can visit when you fancy feasting on fish and chips by the seaside. The Tamar Valley, which you can see from the cabin, is great for long walks, and you’ll also be on the edge of Dartmoor National Park which offers more opportunities for getting into nature.

The views and outside space are what made our stay in Thimble Lodge exceptionally peaceful and special. One day a rainbow came out of the bottom of the garden and arched across the valley - another morning we woke up to mists rising up through sunlight from the bottom of the valley. I loved the log cabin, amazing view, that you could see the view from bed, the stable door, the log burner (with wood supplied), fairy lights, fresh milk in the fridge & cream tea provisions, that it was dog-friendly, and there was no light pollution apart from Thimble Hall next door and a cottage in the distance, meaning wonderfully starry skies. Beautifully located. Fabulous views of the Tamar Valley. Was lovely to eat breakfast on the veranda, each morning. My best part were the dark skies that allowed me to see the stars and a chunk of the Milky Way. The stars jumped out. Our dog, Jessie was very much at home and facinnated by the rabbits ( which fortunately she did not catch). Hide

Great views & comfortable bed. Fine for a couple of nights as the tiny kitchen area isn't in the same room & the novelty soon wears off. Need to dislocate your leg to sit on the loo without leaving the door open. It's a cosy cottage but lacking in home comforts.

We had a great time at Thimble Lodge, it was very cosy, we were a bit worried it would be cold, but it wasn't, the bed was really comfortable and there was a lovely furry throw on the bed, it was all perfect.
